    Rebels 2015

This I agree with, Placid has been a solid 15 at the U20 world cup but not outstanding. Gauging from other players this makes him EPS standard, no higher.

Tony is not a normal coach by 2014 standards, he's an authoritarian. Old school as. There's a lot to like about these signings, I think it probably means Ellison is off which means we'll see Harris at 12 and Mitch at 13.

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

You're not wrong Belly, but to play devil's advocate can you imagine if they scheduled a Melbourne TV game on a Thursday night. There's great PT to all major Melbourne stadiums (perhaps more so in peak hour), you'd get our club rugger crowd because our season will be over (not sure if your...

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

It's pretty rare to see a guy outside the top couple of teams get nominated.

He's got TT's philosophy written all over him. The phrase I've heard uttered by those from Rebels camp is 'it's simple physics'.

That's fantastic!!!! Probably a better signing than Placid IMO (though I've got no problem with either). We need hookers and probably a genuine 6 more than these blokes though.

    Reds 2015

This is a fair assessment. Sure, he's was a fantastic schoolboy and had a good first year out of school (he's not even doing half bad currently), BUT I'd say he's probably not even our form 15 at the U20 WC. He still deserves his start for the U20s though seeing as Kellway plays wing too.

    Rebels 2015

He'll have to I believe unless he either a) gets exception like Delve and Alby have gotten in the past or b) he gets the Japanese spot in our squad that Sa'u currently occupies. I'm not sure what the rules around 'b)' are. Apparently he badly burned the Tahs to come here too who had done him...

All Blacks vs Poms - 3rd test

Conrad Smith's injury makes things interesting. I doubt Tuilagi will move back to 13, Burell at 13 and him on wing worked well for England. I think their problem lays further in at 12. It would be insane not to start Barret, not even Cruden's staunchest supporter would argue he's better...

    Reds 2015

At the end of the day do we lose that much by letting a guy be contracted overseas for a year or two V on a sabbatical? The only difference is he stays contractually obligated, but really are those contracts worth that much? They're easy enough to break.

    Reds 2014

I don't think that was the case, it's probably that the Reds S&C staff felt he'd been overdone in the week or that the field wasn't up to standard for their previous players or something like that. It wouldn't be because of Genia. It might be worth covering Frisby with Lucas (who will start...

    Rebels 2015

That would be an awful idea, Melbourne likes winners. Also, we have a decent budget (we just don't spend it well enough to win). Also, even Connacht is trying to shake being Connacht of late.

    Aussie Player Exodus

Only one of our current Super Rugby coaches have been legends of the game at the team they coach. Also, after a wiki search add Foley to the list of players who got his coaching going once he went overseas. I don't 100% disagree with your theory but there are plenty of cases of otherwise, I'd...

    Aussie Player Exodus

I strongly disagree. One of the most common paths into professional coaching for Australians that when they join their overseas club they slowly pivot into coaching, then they move up the ranks of that club, then they move back to Aus and start as a Super Rugby assistant coach and work their way...

    World Club 10's Singapore - June 21/22

I'd be looking at Steve Fualau if I was you. He's done with the Rebels but talk is he's signed for D2 in France. Still, D2 doesn't start for a while and maybe something can be negotiated.

    Aussie Player Exodus

Whilst I don't disagree with you I will say you can play the long game, athletes can't. Their window is small. They can settle down into a better work/life balance in their late 30s when they are sorting their way into the working world.

If I was Debreczeni I'd be aiming to be Mike Harris 2.0. Shadow him well young Jack.

    Rebels 2015

That's what I'd describe as a balanced backline with heaps of potential. I don't think Debreczeni is being looked at as anything more than cover at 15 though?

    Rebels 2015

Placid was unreal in the Schoolboys, but has been pretty hit and miss in the U20s this year and in his Super Rugby cameos. Still a great signing. Wouldn't consider him a starter but maybe the Rebels do, it'd take some coaxing to come down here and maybe that's the carrot. What over...

    Rebels 2015

In other news, can we sign this kid? Just get two years out of him, it'd be the best thing he could do for his future career as an English international. He's Super Rugby ready, no doubt in my mind.
