Would imagine now a 12/13 of either Ikitau/Flook or Stewart/Ikitau will be the selection

The tacklers should absolutely be pinged, but for arriving players this is pretty consistently let go by all refs in professional rugby. Usually goes along the lines of provided your entry and contact is legal, where you "naturally" fall post contact in the ruck contest is fair game. Off feet at...

I disagree we weren't getting anywhere - seemed more so a poor carry or dropped ball was the reason for turn overs, especially in the first quarter. Otherwise we seemed to make metres and suck in defenders every carry

Really impressive to see the acceleration of the Scot midfield when we tried these chip kicks. Some of those behind-the-post camera angles you see them rush out of the D line then turn on a dime to back track. Kick accuracy would have helped but we really failed to read the game. First 10 we...

Moment Tate kicks it, hes onside

agree to disagree - the inference of your interpretation is that it’s purely the action that trigger the law, not the outcome of the play, but to me this is inconsistent with how the laws are applied in practice. For example; it’s not an uncommon feature of an intercept for someone to knock the...

Again, all of the definitions require the ball to travel forward, it clearly goes backwards. Etzabeth in the world cup comes to mind here, ball goes backwards (apparently) so play on https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cyb1iFJKCyV/?igsh=Y2hrOWtsZzFpbTl3

Eh maybe? Again would like a re watch but its fairly normal I feel to see players who enter a ruck legally, contact, then fall in the clean out to be let play on - rightly or wrongly. Diving off feet has always been largely reserved to either counter rucking or sealing off the ball, rather than...

    Refereeing decisions

Its dead ball line, and you own the dead ball line you’re running away from when in possession, the opposite doesn’t make logical sense and would mean every backwards pass was forwards, knock backs would be knock ons, etc. And I strongly disagree with your assertion that the “knock” is the key...

They were largely fine IMO. Would like a closer re watch but on first viewing this seems like a redundant statement

    Refereeing decisions

Thats the not law book definition, ball must travel forward. Unless theyve poorly phrased the penalty for being a deliberate knock from the field, then its a clear error

    Refereeing decisions

Unless you're a tracking missile - you can't guarantee what part of the body you're going hit when you make a tackle (ball carriers will ALWAYS move in the moments prior to contact). If you target the sternum - your impact area is probably going to be somewhere between the navel and the head...

Bit of mongrel about him too. Be interesting to interrogate stats around dominant tackles. My gut feel is that this is where Tizzano has one over Frase and up against Scotland could be useful

Don’t remember ever saying that? Maybe you should go back and re-read what I said, and shelve the unnecessarily combative attitude for the night. You’ll probably find we agree on what should have happened with the Nic White hit.

Months away per the roar on monday (last paragraph) https://www.theroar.com.au/2024/11/20/the-wallabies-are-flying-but-an-ra-contracting-freeze-risks-undoing-resurgence-and-it-could-cost-millions/

Completely agree - can't remember who pointed it out or where (might have been Eddie Jones god forbid...) but we haven't had a smooth transition of power between head coaches since Eddie and Rod McQueen in 2002. Probably not the golden goose we needed all this time but surely having this would...

Morgan was the ball carrier in the Kerevi send off, not the player who hit Nic White (Ellis Bevan) - sounds like we agree on the facts of the white tackle.
  19. JRugby2

Scotland v Wallabies at Murrayfield 12.40am Mon 25 Nov

True - The dynamics of each collision and how players arrive at each can be different. One example I can think of is going back to our debate the other day on the wales match thread re speed/ force. The amount of force that Ellis Bevan could have generated in his 2 step run up into a...

The Nic White hit should have also incurred a red card for sure (at least yellow) - but I don't think it's inconsistent. Different incidents (Clean out at breakdown in close proximity vs Tackle in open play) are always going to be judged differently. It was the wrong call all on it's own
