Willie would know - after all he was a "Brad Thorn wannabe" for Toulon for about 5 minutes in 2011.

New "LIV Style" Global Rugby League

It won't work - Inventing teams with no connection to cities or fans, then only playing in said city once a year - hardly a way to generate support - Rugby isn't like FI, or Golf, or Tennis where you can run a grand prix/ major tour style format for individuals. You build support through...

Could be wrong here but I thought Between Two Posts et al. was all made for podcasts as well?

Describing a MLR club as an international powerhouse is a crazy hyperbolic stretch, even for the murdoch tabloids.

Mate, my history or rugby playing/ coaching/ refereeing experience or lack thereof is pretty irrelevant - and I'd appreciate this not getting into personal territory in your lack of a better argument. JS can challenge it all he likes - they've got nothing to lose considering it's a minimum 3-4...

Not the outcome of several other tackles off set piece in that game.

I'm not arguing that - and it's why the first step in head contact framework asks the question "was their foul play?". In Serevi's case there was, as there was more he could have done in the moments proceeding to avoid the hit (slow down to point he was in control of his own body, go lower, etc).

I completely understand why people feel like this and to a degree - I'm in the same boat. It's just rugby like all contact sports are trying to get players to adjust to the point where being slightly inaccurate with your tackle tech (or whatever skill execution is relevant) doesn't result in a...

Wales v Australia, Monday 18 November 3:10am AEDT

Nah - neither is correct. The logic is based on how the game is refereed at all levels across the world now, and countless examples of the high tackle framework being applied. There is no massive or sudden change of direction, nor even a huge drop in body height beyond a player bracing for...

Yeah I think they all do have one of those mouthguards, but I'm unsure if this information is used in real time to make decisions in the referee team (I don't think it is - and maybe it should be). Might be used in off field processes like judiciary or sanctioning

Wales v Australia, Monday 18 November 3:10am AEDT

But in the end it wasn't a penalty at all, and that's because there was no force, low impact and nothing illegal about the clean out. So we stopped the game for nothing when wales had the ball in good field position. Once more for those in the back - not every time someone's head is touched in...

Wales v Australia, Monday 18 November 3:10am AEDT

I understand every bit of what you're saying here, and I didn't realise I needed to clarify I meant 'no head contact/ head on head constituting foul play'. I'm saying that the game didn't need to be stopped to arrive at the outcome of it being not foul play. Doleman could have just as easily...

Wales v Australia, Monday 18 November 3:10am AEDT

But it wasn't followed was it because that's not the process. If it is - why didn't we immediately stop for the Kerevi tackle? Doleman was right there - near side AR had an un-obstructed view? You can hear them talking about immediately after the hit too so it's not like they just thought it was...

Wales v Australia, Monday 18 November 3:10am AEDT

They questioned head on head - it wasn't, it was the softest hand to face you can imagine and as we were rightly reminded by Gus last week - not all head contact is foul play. Again - coming from the AR or seeing it live doesn't matter here. They have protocols and the tools to review these...

Heaps of retirements, poor administration and a broken domestic system (more broken than ours). Its incredibly sad. Couldn't believe how quiet the stadium sounded on TV after Tom Wrights second try.

Wales v Australia, Monday 18 November 3:10am AEDT

Late in the first half he stopped the game again because he thought he saw a dangerous clean out, that was completely fine. A professional referee should be able to calmly handle both of these situations in ways that don't back them into logical corners. Should have just waited for the head...

Wales v Australia, Monday 18 November 3:10am AEDT

Why is it twisted logic. The logic here is you as the tackler need to be in control of your own tackle - and if you do anything that reduces your control (like sprint into contact in this example) then you have to accept the risk. The reward being if it comes off you put the attacking team on...
