I disagree WLF. Pods increase the speed and tempo of play, suck in opposition players and create space out wide. The pod system frees the ball up very quickly. If you attended the Scots Newington game you would have seen fast free flowing rugby from the team in Gold. A grind it was not! It was...

Yes. He made a number of impressive runs. Very hard to put down with tremendous upper body strength.

A lot of work to do Black & White. Newington were outplayed in every facet of the game. Constantly pushed off their own ball in the set piece despite having a sizeable pack. Their large forwards tired early in the game and struggled to cross the gain line for most of the match. The Newington...

Predict the same wins Rich E but some bigger margins. Kings by 15 Joeys by 30 or more Scots just..............a few cobwebs last week. The backline didn't really fire. Will need to do better to beat New.

I think it's fairly random Quickhands. Scots play 6 trial games against: Stannies HOME Newington AWAY Waverley HOME St Augustines AWAY Kings HOME Joeys AWAY

Wasn't thinking quite that presumptuously WLF. Stannies and St Augustines a big unknown. Scots will certainly be competitive again this year with 10 of last years team returning. However the GPS competition has been close for many years now. All of the top teams can beat each other on the day...

Scots play both Stannies and St Augustine pre season this year......as well as an enticing local derby against Waverley. My sources tell me Waverley will be good again this year. A bit more variety and interest with the Scots pre season trials this year.

Shore did their best Azzuri....alas the result never looked in doubt. Scots did make hard work of it though. A very stop start game dominated by the referee and touch judges who had numerous long and protracted conferences mid pitch. Flowing rugby it was not.

It might just be worth trying it on again for size Azzuri........you know just in case.....

The kings player barely felt the contact. Easy to see that from his reaction. Running away in no discomfort whatsoever. He seemed far more concerned in trying to milk a penalty. Yassmin is a big fellow. A 'well placed and very swift right cross to the jaw' as you describe it, would have felled...

Just as well you aren't the coach 'one eyed pirate'. The underhand tactic you openly advocate and applaud has no place in rugby. We can certainly do without it in schoolboy rugby. The reaction of the Kings number 13 to the softest of contact in response to his provocation said it all......he...

Newington will need to improve on their fitness levels to be a serious contender next year. Visibly tired in the last quarter of the match against Scots. Some of the big boys in the pack carrying too much weight, struggling to get around the park. Leaner and fitter they could be a real force.

It was a game of 2 halves. Never has the cliche been more appropriate. Scots looking every bit GPS victors to the half time break.....and then......it all changed. Kings surged and one try was quickly followed by a second. Kings started to believe, their heads lifted and cheered on by their...

Agree on the results but not all of the margins View by 35 Scots by 20 Joeys in a close one by only 5 - Newington will test them at scrum time. Joeys may find themselves pushed around today. Scots boys reckon it was the strongest scrum they've faced this year. Joeys will be giving away 10 kilos...

Smith gone for the season. Savala training this week with the strong possibility of playing. Backline looking good regardless of Smith's absence now that Wilson Dulieu is back at scrum half.

Returning to a one round competition has been frustrating. The season is nearing it's conclusion and it hardly feels like it's started. And next weekend the competition will be decided by a match up between the 2 best teams with one having the fortune of home ground advantage. 10 round home and...

It was an excellent afternoon. A great crowd in a festive mood. The biggest tunnel to cheer the Newington boys on to the field that I have seen in many a year. Newington did themselves proud. They dictated terms for long segments of the match and made Scots work very hard in defence. The match...
