Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

It was a completely dominant scrum, but again it was the LH side that really had the Irish under pressure. There was no evidence in this match that Kepu/Simmons (or TT/Simmons) is more effective than Robertson/Coleman.

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

Was that on some poor unsuspecting onlooker on the sideline? I don't think he was on the field 10 minutes before his dropped pass fuck up.
  3. Brumby Runner

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

It is what it is. He is the best option we have, despite his poor kicking out of hand. In other aspects he is more than passable (although he does miss more than his share of tackles) and he didn't suffer in comparison with his opposite number last night.

    June Internationals not involving Australia

Yeah, I don't think it's bias either ACR, but quite a few refs seem to be intimidated when in charge of the ABs. Today's refereeing effort was just an example.

  6. Brumby Runner

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

Ok, a very strong effort by the whole team, and isn't it great to beat the World ranked No 2 side with a minimum of preparation. And no good the Irish claiming they had a second team out there for 50 - 60 minutes, because the Wallabies were more dominant at the end of the game. First...

2018 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Jamie, I have one foot in the grave now having been born in the first half of last century, but I am pretty much in the same boat as you so far as tv viewing is concerned. Except that I do watch the SBS news regularly, I stream most rugby from Foxtel Now, and use the tv mainly otherwise for...

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

Should be Arnold in the next two tests, to go with Coleman and Rodda.

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

Right on the money Roffy. The Reds' defensive structure was very poor against the Tahs. How much that might have been attributable to Kerevi at 13, it didn't look good.
  10. Brumby Runner

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

Of course, Kerevi can defend, and has been noticeably better in recent games with his one on one tackling. What concerns me is that he played 13 v the Tahs and the backline defensive structure virtually disappeared on occasions as the Tahs attacked wide. I think he can handle 12 adequately, but...

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

My tip is that Izack Rodda will have a big game and finish the equal of or better than his opposition locks. I think the Aussie scrum could get on top of the Irish. I hope the Pooper is successful, though not very confident. I can't see much between the two lineouts, except perhaps for wayward...
  12. Brumby Runner

Australia v Ireland, Sat 9th June @ 8.00pm, Suncorp Brisbane

I'm not so sure Ignoto. Every time I've been to a Brumbies function, I have been somewhat overawed by the size of the players, including those who look to be quite small out on the field. By way of example, I passed Tom Banks at Belconnen Mall a few days ago, and while he is not a giant on the...

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

Isn't Adam Coleman of Islander heritage as well? Although born in Aus I believe.

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

But Coleman has the best stats by far for lineouts pilfered. But, of course, opposition throwers target him more than Simmons when they throw. Silly me.

Yep, best maul disrupter atm is Arnold without doubt.

    Reds 2018

That's an interesting statement Gel. I'm not meaning to deny it, but question the basis for saying they have a high value currency. In comparison to what, and at what time in history? Before the exchange rate was floated in the 90s, and before decimal currency came to Australia, the long term...

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

The difference in success rates could just as easily be put down to the abilities of the respective throwers rather than the caller/jumper. In fact, probably moreso when account is taken into crooked throws and overthrows, which cannot be attributed to the caller.

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

Derpus, as many know I have always had a very low opinion of Rob Simmons as a rugby player at test level, pre-dating his move to the Tahs by quite a few years. I do not rely on stats to form an opinion, but any impartial observer would have to say the stats in this case do more support my notion...

And equally as likely to be false. Many claims are made (some by me), that take on a life of their own as they get repeated by posters who have simply read the first claim.
  20. Brumby Runner

    Wallabies squad for Ireland series

No, but I know that after 10 games Simmons had made 65 tackles and missed 11 for a 73% success rate. Carter on the other hand had made something like 77 tackles, missed 12, at a success rate of 83%. In general play, Simmons is ineffective and arguably lazy and if the engine room is missing...
