Could just say something about my capacity to spot talent too. I thought Toutai Kefu was a dud first time I saw him play, so I have form.

    Reds 2020

Question for those in the know, who are some likely targets floating around that might be acquisition targets? I don’t mean guys at other Super clubs, but guys playing OS or maybe coming through the club ranks who are capable of filling spots we need next year. In particular starting spots (so I...

    Reds 2020

I think he is big enough. Strong defender and runs hard + has a kicking and passing game. Plus he likes to get stuck into the breakdown, which is more acceptable for a centre then a 10. So he seems to have the skill set. But until we see him play there regularly it is a bit of an unknown. 2...

Did name Beale as VC though - so still managed to throw a new grenade into the mix.

I’m picking Mafi as my second hooker not as third string or a development player. That spot may well go to Uelese and I’m fine with that, but for mine Mafi is the second best hooker currently playing regularly. The other options (as I seen then) are Uelese, Rangi, Latu, Fitzpatrick, TPN and...

And Latu can’t throw and he doesn’t really add that much in the experience stakes (compared to someone like TPN). I could kind of see why they gave him a chance a year or two ago when the cupboard was pretty bare, but Fainga’a has been in excellent form and Mafi pretty good too. I reckon TPN...

Amongst eveything else, he was also given a very poor game plan to work with.

Mate - your devotion to some of these guys is admirable, but Wells didn’t dominate Nasirani.

Harris is playing 8. Wilson 6. They’ve both looked bloody good to me - Wilson probably the more outstanding, but Harris looks quite a prospect as well.

I think the key is that he is a viable option if they mark up our main jumpers and for the occasional change up. I imagine he would be fine for that.

I imagine there is a very good chance of Valetini being in the squad. He may have only just come back from injury, but he has successfully got the through a number of games, so fitness isn’t an issue. He was taken on the Wallaby tour for a reason and, if it is true Cheika is reverting to an...

    Reds 2019

I think you have highlighted the key - ASY (Angus Scott-Young) has been very good, but he has to kick on to continue for the squad to progress, or they will look for someone else who can do his job and more. If the wraps on Wilson are right, then someone’s spot is in jeopardy. It’s a good problem to have and ASY (Angus Scott-Young)...

In terms of football/training I know no more really about Duncan then everyone else on here. In terms of Duncan as a person I can say he is an fantastic ambassador for the game and for the Reds. Being a Rockhampton local, he often travels up here (frequently at his own expense I believe) and...

    Reds 2020

I think that’s harsh. Kerevi has had his best year ever at 12 and CFS arguably his best year at 13. I’m really disappointed to see Paia’aua go, and there are lots of things you could be critical of with the Reds backs, but Kerevi at 12 was a big tick for me. And one of the reasons he was so good...

Yeah, I think Genia’s form is patchy - as I alluded to above, but I reckon he’ll be chosen. I won’t be worried if they give Powell a go though, or indeed White (not that I’ve seen him play, just from what I’ve read here).

But I don’t think anyone is actually celebrating mediocrity and nor do I think the general supporter who is backing Thorn is either as accepting or as naive as is being implied by some. I can only speak for myself - but I hate that we have finished another season at the bottom. I see the lack...

    Rnd 18: Brumbies v Reds

Yeah - I don’t get that one. He was smashed and it was clear his shoulder was still troubling him in the second half. I’ve got no doubt guys do take a dive to get things reviewed. It never occurred to me this might be one of those times. If anything, the fact he got up at all shows how tough...

    Rnd 18: Brumbies v Reds

No Tomikin - he didn’t. That is the whole point people are making. You’re comment above is ‘shoulder charge to the head’, but in the refs own words he was carded for ‘going near the head’ and ‘using too much force’ neither of which are penalty offences, let alone a card. Now everyone is...

Not really. 5 Rodda 7 Hooper 9 Genia 12 Kerevi 13 Kuridrani would all be pretty certain too and I would be very surprised if Koroibete wasn’t 11. Nasirani at 8 is highly probable. All of those bar Genia are on form. I’d say the only positions which are really unclear are 6, 10, 14 & 15.
