As an 8. Hooper and McMahon will cover 7 just fine. Next year it will be McCalman and Holloway fighting for 8 I'd imagine. Now we can add Leroy too that mix. Which I don't think is a negative at all.

I guess Powell is seen as the best of a poor bunch remaining. Or the most potential of the rest. But then if he has so much potential why isn't Larkham (the wallabies attack coach) giving him more game time? It's certainly an interesting selection.

It was similar. I remember him being the second string half-back for the Reds at the time. Wasn't a regular super rugby starter.

Don't be too negative. I think Genia was picked in the same manner for his debut and that turned out pretty damn well.

Plus he can come off the bench and kick goals to win us games. I'd much prefer him as goal kicker over Foley or Lilo. At least for kicks from the side-line.

Palu is the most disappointing selection I can see. Powell is a surprise. Horwill and Kepu too but I don't mind seeing these two. Especially Kepu.

Holloway and McCalman play such a similar style though. Leroy apparently offers something different. I saw a poster earlier compare him to Vaea. I don't have any issues with bringing in a player to the extended squad who offers something different.
