    Powell should be starting.

As an 8. Hooper and McMahon will cover 7 just fine. Next year it will be McCalman and Holloway fighting for 8 I'd imagine. Now we can add Leroy too that mix. Which I don't think is a negative at all.

I guess Powell is seen as the best of a poor bunch remaining. Or the most potential of the rest. But then if he has so much potential why isn't Larkham (the wallabies attack coach) giving him more game time? It's certainly an interesting selection.

According to Wiki: "He played in eight Super Rugby matches in 2009, half of which were starting appearances, and scored four tries during the tournament but missed Queensland's final two matches of the season due to an injured finger tendon.[12] Genia was selected in the Wallabies squad for the...

It was similar. I remember him being the second string half-back for the Reds at the time. Wasn't a regular super rugby starter.

Don't be too negative. I think Genia was picked in the same manner for his debut and that turned out pretty damn well.

Plus he can come off the bench and kick goals to win us games. I'd much prefer him as goal kicker over Foley or Lilo. At least for kicks from the side-line.

    Is Larkham still attack coach?

Palu is the most disappointing selection I can see. Powell is a surprise. Horwill and Kepu too but I don't mind seeing these two. Especially Kepu.

Poey is gone next year so it would be nice to have more options then.

That is true. I guess I was thinking about athleticism - both are similar in that regard. Also both seem to just do their job and do it well without offering any real point of difference. The main point still stands though, Leroy offers something completely different to both Holloway and...

Wish he was a few inches taller then he'd be perfect for 6 or 8. :(

Holloway and McCalman play such a similar style though. Leroy apparently offers something different. I saw a poster earlier compare him to Vaea. I don't have any issues with bringing in a player to the extended squad who offers something different.

I think your right about it being a huge extended squad. But I disagree with your example about Holloway. If he is not named he still has a very good chance of being picked next year - if he continues to play the way he does. I think people are forgetting this is really Holloway's first full...

So Greg Martin thinks Leroy Houston will be announced in the squad. Interesting choice especially if it comes at the expense of Holloway. But then again it is coming from Martin so it's probably B.S.

Most are predicting DHP for the wing spot. What do you guys think about Morahan as a smokey for winger / fullback cover? I still have his British and Irish Lions game in the back of my mind. A beautiful display of attacking and defending ability against the highest of opposition.

I haven't seen many of the rebels game this year. What position is Harris playing? I always thought 12 was his best position. Not sure about him as a fullback. I remember his breakthrough year at the Reds when he scored a few nice solo tries off the bench. Glad to hear his running game is...

As mentioned already by @Groucho. It would make absolutely no difference to the way they play. Pocock will continue to play the fetcher role he did last year whilst at 8. Whilst Hooper was playing the traditional role an 8 plays but at 7 - running, tackling, playing wider, being the aggressor...
