    Rugby News from unexpected places

Scotland did a very good job of keeping the Fiji in check last weekend. If they hadn't as you say, Fiji are a team that are well capable of getting on a roll that makes them as competitive as anyone. Uruguay failed to shut that down and copped a beating thanks to that. Uruguay were missing a few...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

In recent clashes there's been very little between Japan and the US. I actually think it would be a good test of where the US currently sits in relation to their development playing Japan. The big difference with the Eagles this season has been the advent of MLR. It has allowed their best to...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Spain beat Namibia 31-13 in Madrid. Which should be setting off alarm bells for the RWC. Namibia copped a beating by Russia last weekend and while showing more starch in this game never looked like pushing Spain a team that missed out of the RWC. The USA comfortably beat Romania in Bucharest...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

No but honestly it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

    Global Rapid Rugby

Yes, it does need to be run by professionals which is what such a restructure would drive through.

I actually think the state Unions should be abolished entirely with Rugby run out of a single entity. Rugby in this country has been traditionally structured into a divisional structure with RA sitting a top and each Union representing essentially their own division of the greater RA structure...

Forrest mentioned the amount of economic growth projected in the region. There's an ever growing middle class in Asia which can be developed. We need to realise that Australia isn't the only primary market they are looking at. If they can get anywhere close to the supposed number of Rugby fans...

Mate, I'm actually contemplating writing something up detailing the need for a complete restructure of the administration of the game in this country. This would include the abolition of the traditional Union structure. Which is desperately needed in regards to the removal of duplication which...

Well, I'm not either of those and I played the game as a kid. More the ethnic alignment and tensions that plagued the NSL of old. Sadly there's an element of that re-emerging in the Wanderers fan base.

Think he said he was only having a year off.

    Global Rapid Rugby

No but it rates worse than Super Rugby.

I'd love for open borders when it comes to where talent can play both in GRR and Super Rugby for that matter. While I was happy enough for the Jaguares and Sunwolves to enter Super Rugby I would have prefer both Argentine and Japanese involvement to have been done via squad allocations in the existing 15 teams as...

The right names will most certainly help. Getting the product on the pitch right will be crucial as well. It doesn't need to be the best league from day one but it certainly helps if it can be the most entertaining.

I think it would be heavily reliant on how they are marketed and their overall make up as you could say that about the NFL and yet the games shown here actually rate rather well. Then there's also another element to it in that it's looking to develop the Asian market as a whole.

Hmm.........the personnel issues aren't ideal but the Drua bolstered by overseas based talent certainly is very encouraging to read. If they can build on their NRC campaign they'll be contenders for sure.

Pretty much everything you have said here. Cannot tell you how many times I've heard that Rugby is not as tough as League (which it is at least if not more so) or as skillful (by nature of its differing parts it absolutely is) or players aren't as talented (most of the talented Rugby guys I've...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

We streamed a College Football game on the big TV at work on Thursday and it looked fine.

I'd keep it to only within the 22m but it the ball is caught on the full then a free kick to the defending team on the spot of the kick. Would make the kicking play think twice about just lobbing it up there and hoping it comes off.

I'm hoping for it to become more of a catalyst for something better down the road in regards to Super Rugby and Australian Rugby in general.
