    NRC 2018

It's disappointing. A bit of a missed opportunity to present potentially the first fully professional NRC season.

    NRC 2018

Come to think of it having the SS running another Sydney team would be fine by me. Playing out of one of the northern clubs.

    NRC 2018

That's quite possible. I imagine that if the NRC were to ever become something worth something commercially then I could see WR (World Rugby) backing off their funding a bit but that's a big if that would require a complete overhaul of the thinking surrounding the competition.

    NRC 2018

Well, they are looking to partner with a number of Sth American Unions in the proposed Sth America Professional League which is set to be a commercial structure as much as it will be used for development. So there's a reasonable chance the answer may be. yes.

    NRC 2018

I'd keep the two country's if we went this way. Which I'm not against at all. Could still do as you suggest as well in terms of teams composition. Looking at this you could almost suggest you're thinking of a structure that could essentially form a reasonable break away structure from Super Rugby.

    NRC 2018

The way NSW has approached this competition is incredibly short sighted. But I'd prefer to see them remain engaged in some way. If they do bring in two PI squads then I'd be happy for just the sole NSW if necessary. Though, both NSW team did improve (albeit marginally) in the latter stages of...

    NRC 2018

The best place I can think of to put this. https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/international/107840178/Samoa-Tonga-could-be-next-as-Fiji-clinch-Australian-rugby-minor-premiership WR (World Rugby) Rugby reportedly looking to fund another PI team in the NRC. Which I fully support. The Drua have added so...

    Fiji

Shouldn't be an issue for the semi as having finished first they'll play on Saturday am I right? Anyway, really happy to see the Drua top the table. They have really grown into the competition very nicely and have vindicated the decision to include them. Would like to see WR (World Rugby) look to get either...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

A lot of the speculation seems to have come from members of other Austin based clubs that had issues with the teams management. I've been informed that they while not flush are sustainable. I don't think Austin will be moving unless the offer is just too good for their owners to refuse but I do...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

There are apparently 12 (not including the confirmed teams) bids for expansion teams in MLR. We already have Ontario and NY for next season and New England and Atlanta confirmed for 2020. The league wants to go to 14 teams then put a hold on expansion for at least a couple of seasons. The owner...

    Global Rapid Rugby

One of the most disappointing aspect is that it misses an opportunity in my opinion to transition the NRC into a fully professional structure by combining the teams from the two competitions to develop a true national championship. And potentially another commercial property.

    Global Rapid Rugby

Disappointing and short sighted in my opinion. Which is par for the course I guess. Probably could look at inviting another Japanese squad to fill the gap. Plus, start a dialogue with the group looking at Hawaii.

    Global Rapid Rugby

I haven't seen anything about that. But it still doesn't negate what I suggested. Dealing with Pichot would have provided Forrest with more access to other members of WR (World Rugby) as well.

    Global Rapid Rugby

If RA haven't been concerned with the performance of the Super Rugby sides both on and off the pitch for the past few seasons then we're in even deeper shit than many of us assume. Part of why I like the idea of a WS team competing in the same space (I'm talking Rugby) is that it would hopefully force...

    Global Rapid Rugby

We essentially know this is going to be signed off by WR (World Rugby). They should look at putting the necessary pieces in place regardless of the current situation here. Forrest has a direct line to WR (World Rugby) via his dealing with Pichot and once signed could look to have WR (World Rugby) put pressure on RA to play ball.

    Proposed Nations Championship

Sort of why I think 16 teams across four pools is better. You'd likely see a better mix of teams which I think would be more interesting as a fan.

    Global Rapid Rugby

One of the earliest stated goals of the competition was to look to attract Australian players back to our shores. May be I'm missing something but wouldn't adding more depth to the player pool be beneficial to the Wallabies?
  18. WorkingClassRugger

    Proposed Nations Championship

I'm not against the concept. I actually wrote a piece over at The Roar last year (https://www.theroar.com.au/2017/03/13/world-league-rugby-pathway-forward/) regarding using something similar for T2 nations and below. I just think that they are structurally a little off. I tend to believe it...

    Proposed Nations Championship

    They are too.
  20. WorkingClassRugger

    Proposed Nations Championship

If they really wanted to change things up they could look to do it with two divisions of 16 teams based on current world rankings. So 1-16 would be Div 1 and 17-32 would be Div 2. Each division could then be split into 4 pools of 4 determine once again via rankings similar to world rankings...
