    Where to for Super Rugby?

The most sensible thing would be to keep the current 15 teams and maintain the current conference system allowing for 8 games and then play each of the teams in the other two conference once for an additional 10 games bring the total to 18 each and 9 homes games each a season. Each team a single...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Similar to the NRL. So would that mean that teams would play each other once for 13 games and then what, 5 teams a second time for 18 rounds? I wouldn't actually mind that format but why not just keep it at 15 teams? Or are they actually looking to run it as a straight 13 weeks? Surely that's...

An argument could be made that the nature of the system in which they are developed could play a significant role in that. Most of our 'elite' talent emerges from a relatively small number of schools in a handful of sporting associations. While having these nurseries often offering such programs...

    Waratahs 2019

I think the Tahs definitely cut him far too soon. Used to watch him in the Shute Shield and he was one of those players that you could see given the right environment had the ability to develop into something. The Tahs just weren't nearly patient or proactive about in trying to realise his talents.

Nadolo moved to Australia when he was 3 months old.

Fixed it for you. The fact that some are actually suggesting the likes of Jones just show's the lack of vision that haunts the game in this country.

His No.1 in radio is skewed. In terms of volume of listeners he's more like top 5 but not No. 1 in terms of total listeners. Nova, KIIS and WSFM all have morning shows that peak significantly higher than his audience. The difference is that while many of the people who listen to the FM station...

And that's the crux. The national body is so dysfunctional that they lack the necessary strength to drive the changes needed for the betterment of the game.

How I envision it there would be a Professional Rugby Dept. and a Grassroots Rugby Dept. that would run the respective functions of the game. You would have one Pro Rugby manager who would coordinate all the squad operations in conjunction with a respective State manager and the HP coaches for...

    Rugby News from unexpected places

Lot's on very interesting things going on in the States at present.

I don't think anyone would argue that Club Rugby has a vital role to play. It was also noticeable that the turnout for the Brisbane NRC games hosted at club grounds were quite good as well. Many people are feeling disconnected from the pro game at present and are finding a home in club Rugby...

Some of those ideas aren't terrible. The dumping of the NRC is a no go in my opinion. The club seasons are long enough as they are. If they want longer they can start earlier. If anything the NRC needs to be further developed and resourced not abolished. The free camps are nice in theory but...

It's easy to shoot off thought bubbles when you know there's sweet FA chance of anything you suggest of actually happening. We all do it. But I can for one thing categorically state that if Jones were appointed. That would end my interest in the game here (at the very least involving the game in...

Joe Schmidt is leaving the Ireland job post RWC. So, I have a suggestion. Accept that we're essentially screwed for the RWC. We might not be a complete disaster at best but we won't get past the quarters. Focus on the future and get working on getting Schmidt on board.

Given Peni's performances and ill-discipline I'd be asking for a transfer fee if I were the Force.

Why not both? Since dropping 20+kg in England he'd be more dynamic at the lineout as a jumper which was always probably his greatest failing. Imagine a 2nd row of Skelton and Roets (assuming he's any good) with a backrow of Dempsey, Holloway and Hooper. It could actually be a fairly handy unit.

    Western Force 2019

Jooste has been talked about for a bit over on TWF as already being signed which makes sense as he's a local product and Ready mentioned as a prospective target. But interesting to see Ready is more than just talk now. Wonder if they'll try and get Verity-Amm back west from the Brumbies.

If you look to centralise you have to do it involving 100% of the playing pool (or as close to 100% of the playing pool as possible) or not at all. For RA it would be simpler to do so than the RFU as they only have 4 teams under their direct auspices and one outside in the Force. So it shouldn't...
