http://www.dogriverhowlers.com/howler-happenings/what-is-ultra-sevens-rugby Seems to spell it out. I’d prefer 3 games/thirds with 7 minute halves and 10 minute break between games. Make it more similar to what the game is. WCR was suggesting a solution to what I think is a problem in developing...

    Wallabies 2023

I’m always wary of league players interest in switching, seems to be their management trying to fabricate demand to push up the asking price for their next league contract. That being said, I wouldn’t mind us considering Burton if he was serious. His core skills are excellent, he doesn’t appear...

That is a thought. Maybe play thirds with normal 7s timing and longer breaks between the thirds? That equals something close to an hour. Another thing might be to approach it as a summer sport like touch is to league or that rectangle field, no bounce version of Aussie Rules?

Sevens 2021/22 (World Series, Oceania, Comm Games & R7WC)

The problem I see with developing 7s at a junior/club level is the structure of the game. One game isn’t enough playing, so it’s a whole gala day type thing, which is a big investment of time for a few games. The nature of the game below elite level makes it a few times a year thing as opposed...

Disappointing result. But It’s been said before, no Kerevi in 7s equals no Kerevi in 15s. You can whinge about world rankings all you like, but If Kerevi says I want to play 7s and the ARU says no you’re not. His response is I’ll sign an exclusive contract in Japan/Europe.

The issue to me is the NH teams have a different approach to the breakdown. They commit bodies, we don’t. We are more concerned about not committing too many players on either side of the ball so we can have structured attack and more players in the defensive line. In attack the NH teams get...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I agree. My point is that through not running it by a playing group with a strong religious/PI presence the club has painted these guys into a corner. Putting the 7, in the views of some, into the same basket as Folau. The obvious difference is Folau chose to publicize his views, these people...

I’m far from agreeing with them, but do feel sorry for them. They weren’t consulted, just told. Folau expressed his beliefs without prompting. These 7 have been put in a position of stating their own personal beliefs, hypocritical or not. It’s created 7 Folaus, from 7 privately religious individuals

    Reds 2023

And why would LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) air his dirty laundry when he still has wallaby ambitions and wants to keep the door open to a possible return if his new contract doesn’t work out?

“Massive” being the optimal word. Jeez he’s big for a 5/8.

    Wallabies 2023

The idea has just been put forward by DR. We can all whinge if they keep it at 3. The Giteau law was introduced to help our chances during the RWC. What’s to say they don’t tweak it again before the upcoming event?

To me Skelton needs to be in the squad all the time if he’s to be considered. He’s a one of a kind player that you have to build a game plan/forward pack to accommodate his strengths and weaknesses. Someone like Coleman can slot into an existing structure and fulfill a role.

    Waratahs 2023

Yeah, he’s not the greatest ball runner. But he runs an efficient lineout, must scrummage well. When he came to the Tahs I was amongst those waving my arms about and cursing at the sky. But he kind of proved me wrong. Do we need him? Probably not. But paired with a wrecking ball in the other...

The ridiculous rumoured ban against a fan for calling Eddie Jones a traitor

The so-called heckler with the ginger beard is the living embodiment of those Yenda Beer ads from a while back. “I said get a case of Yenda….. not go to Yenda!?!” Followed by gaggle of laughing elite school toffs trying to pretend they’re not. On a different note, the grandstand urinator...
