Waratahs v Crusaders, Friday 12th April, in Sydney

Try was scored at 78:26 and awarded at 78:28, so right decision was made according to the broadcast clock. I don't think we know what the shot clock at the ground was saying, but the ref immediately said as he kicked it that he kicked it before time. It must have only been one or two seconds in it

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

The time zone isn't ideal, but some pubs make a killing out of Champions League matches, because none of the punters have Stan yhemselves

    Wallabies 2024

It's hard to tell, there was a collapsed scrum (played on) 5 mins before he came off. He took a hitup off a lineout around 13:35 which he looks a little bit of discomfort getting up from. But has another hitup soon after. By 17 min he's run around some kick tennis back and forth without doing...

Round 8: Moana Pasifika v Qld Friday April 12

He did Tahs v Rebels and Moana v Drua earlier this year. Has about 10 super rugby games under his belt. He's only 34, well regarded by the powers that be and we are likely to see a lot more of hime

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

What do you mean by "on their own"? Do you mean excluding RA distributing the broadcast revenue to them?

    Waratahs 2024

There's no team that has a good year if that happens. But will probably cost DC his job

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

JTL runs Dec to May. MLR runs Feb to July. Doesn't leave much of a window, especially with TRC and international windows. Or do we just play our season through it? Aug to November? And players just forgo an offseason South Africa style?

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

All of them (*noting actually NSWRU, QRU, ACTRU and not Super Rugby teams) make more than $2m from sponsorship, match day revenue and sponsorship each year. The QRUhad $5.5m in sponsorship alone. I've seen reports that it costs around $13 to $14m to run a Super rugby team in total at the moment, which...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

There is more free to air coverage in Australia now than there has ever been. There is pretty much universal free to air access across the country to 18(?) Super Rugby games and 12 (?) test matches each year. I don't see how you could conclude that that has resulted in higher viewership?

    Rebels v Drua

Mitigating factors are all off-field factors (a) the presence and timing of an acknowledgement of culpability/wrong-doing by the offending Player; (b) the Player’s disciplinary record and/or good character; (c) the youth and inexperience of the Player; (d) the Player’s conduct prior to and at...

    Wallabies 2024

Looks like Bell will miss all of Super Rugby and at least some of the June tests due to the foot injury. Lonergan is out for months now too right? Any news yet on a return date for AAA?
  12. Strewthcobber

    Waratahs 2024

Doran at the Roar is reporting this re Bell

    Rebels v Drua

    Rebels v Drua

Doran tweeting that he believes both are appealing their sanctions

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I mean, what do people think the Super Rugby W players are going to do?

    Super Rugby General Chat

Doesn't European rugby already have one of those? Anyway, looking forward to the Reds having a bunch of 1am and 3am games, with the final being played at ridiculous o'clock on a Monday morning, with no-one in Australia watching

    Super Rugby General Chat

Do the football clubs take it seriously? As a casual observer I don't think I've ever heard about it, unlike say, the UEFA Champions League

    Super Rugby General Chat

So top 6 from Super Rugby from end of May, even though the season isn't done? Or the season finishes then? With this club comp and then July test window, it doesn't leave much room for Super rugby to continue.....

    Waratahs 2024

There are far more pro league players (in the true sense of the word - accepting any money to pay) in Australia than just those playing in the NRL though.
  20. Strewthcobber

    Western Force 2024

I'm guessing the Super rugby teams aren't particularly interested in an opposition player knowing all their lineout calls, defensive structures, backline moves etc etc
