2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

Thats interesting (Hodgson that is). He made a huge impact on the S14s. Lets hope that his efforts in clubland were more just about coming back from injury than anything else. And yes, I agree that Brown will not get over the gainline. And we cant afford to go in with essentially another...

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

Gnostic, Brown has been performing quite well off of the bench in the last two tests. While he is not up to scratch as a test starter, I feel he has something to offer from the bench. Having said that if his coming means either McCalman or Hodgson get left at home, then leave Brown.

Thoughts on the Wallabies 2010 Tri Nations performance.

And in regard to Horne, he was thrown into the test arena without a lot of super 14s behind him - he has missed a lot of rugby over the last two years. He showed a lot in the few S14 games he started, but I think it was too early to make the jump. Having said that, that observation is post...

Thoughts on the Wallabies 2010 Tri Nations performance.

Something I have noted with Genia is that he tends to pass the ball to the forwards not slightly in front of them. That means when the forward receives that ball he is stationary, instead of moving forward to contact. Its only a second, but its enough for the defence to rush to him before he...

    John Eales' charge down kick

How many of our guys have had place kicks charged down?

Thoughts on the Wallabies 2010 Tri Nations performance.

I think the tri nations could have gone a lot worse. We are certainly improving. We have pretty much discovered players to cover all of the retired stars of the last 10 years - Larkham, Latham, Mortlock, Gregan - and this team is learning to play with each other. Complaining that we have a bad...

Rugby Union State of Origin - Hypothetical

While drawing parallels to leagues SOO is useful, we have to remember that in league SOO is the be all and end all. Winning the SOO series is bigger than the world cup, tests, etc. Thats not the case in rugby.

Even our semipro's are better than hayne.... :-P

    Argentina in SANZAR

What is the current Argy team like? I really havent heard much since the 2007 RWC, and I think most of the stars would have gone by now.

Is Rugby in Trouble in Oz?

We are at close to 200k participants? I had seen data saying we only had 90k. Im interested, what is RL like? I know soccer and AFL are well ahead of that (although AFL do skew their data by including participants in Ozkick).

    2011 Super 15 Draw

Exactly. I like it. I get to see my team play more often, and the season doesn't end as soon as it starts as is the case now.

    Sun Herald/Rugbyheaven TriNations team

Even if Corey Jane has a name that just makes you want to punch him? And he doesn't help it out at all with that haircut! (Still havent forgiven him for getting that try at 81 mins against the Force to win the game when the Canes were 12 points down with 3 mins to go)

Is Rugby in Trouble in Oz?

I aim for one test a year, as living in Adelaide I need to fly to one of the other major cities to do it. Generally I go for one of the top range tickets (as I only get to one game a year). The mate I go with and I normally end up in the middle of the pitch close to the front - great seats. But...

    Sun Herald/Rugbyheaven TriNations team

As per my post elsewhere 15. Beale (AUS) - Im biased 14. Jane (NZ) - almost lost out because he has 2 first names, but he is still pretty bloody good 13. Smith (NZ) - Fourie close second 12. Nonu (NZ) - there werent a lot of standout 12s. Giteau was average, the Boks couldnt settle on one. 11...

Is Rugby in Trouble in Oz?

Exactly. Even if they charge $40 or $50 less to get more people, these additional people will all buy a beer or two. Maybe a few will buy a jersey for their son. Some more will buy a pie or a hotdog. A lot will buy programmes. There are more ways to make money at a game than just ticket sales...

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

Id have preferred to see Weeks given the starts that Ma'afu has been getting, as Ma'afu is not a long term prospect, Weeks is. However, given the investment made in Ma'afu, he has come along. He is now reaching a higher level than I think Weeks would. So I think the option to take Ma'afu now is...

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

I quote like that squad enforceer. But I dont think Stannard should go. We need a development option in the halves, and I dont think that player is Stannard. Turner and Kingi are our up and coming halves, and with Turner injured, I think Kingi should get the run. Resting Giteau is a good move...

Is Rugby in Trouble in Oz?

The Wallabies are quite successful at the moment. We beat the Springbok in the high veldt for the first time in 100 million odd years. We have taken it right up to the All Blacks. We are also playing exciting running rugby. The S14 teams are also being reasonably successful. We had 3 teams...

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

Possibly Charles. But I dont think he is ready for internationals. Who else is there? Whittaker, Hardman (he's retired though isnt he?), Freier, and thats about it.

    Western Force 2011

Seems the Force are in a bit of a conundrum next year. 4 flankers, 3 spots. I dont want McCalman to go to 4, I think he needs to develop at 8. I also want a genuine lock (Tom Hocking hurry up and step up) to develop alongside Sharpe for when Sharpe goes. So we have Pocock, Brown, McCalman and...
