English Clubs restricting RWC preparation for non English test players

There is the international window, which means that players will always be available for the international teams. And as long as the premier game is the international, which it is, we will continue to see players representing their country - the fans will dictate that. Also remember that...

    Western Force 2011

Stanford was released at the end of the season just gone. I thought he was over playing in the ITM Cup? Tyrell did some serious damage to himself. I think the doc said that he is fine to play, as long as its not hooker. As he was a backrower that moved to the front row, I think he is on the...

    Australian Teams in ITM Cup

Surely if the NZRU cut back the number of teams in the ITM Cup to 8, instead of 14, those teams would then be much more financial. If we then add in 6 Australian teams (2 x Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane) then we could have a financially viable comp. The Log of wood could still be...

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

Dick Brown is quite a good impact player coming off the bench. He has a huge work rate but is just too small to match it when everyone is fresh.

    Western Force 2011

He is listed as 190cm - http://www.rugbywa.com.au/players/ted_postal,57865.html/section/54680 Might be a little short for lock, but could play blindside perhaps.

The Great Umaga for an Aussie S15 spot

What about the mentoring someone like Umunga could offer to a young Aussie leading up to the world cup even if it is Tom Carter.

Bundaberg Rum announces it will not renew rugby sponsorship

Who do we see as being replacements? Leading into a world cup, Australian rugby shouldnt have too much difficulty getting another sponsor surely?

    Western Force 2011

Having said that, there is a new coach, so it will be interesting to see if that idea keeps up. And also, when Pocock and Brown went down last year, Hodgson moved to 7, with McCalman and Wykes filling in at 6 and 8. How would Jenkins rate against Wykes? Id suggest though that if we lost 2 of the...

2010 Wallabies End of Year Tour (EOYT)

Id suggest that the Canberra comp is a tier below the Sydney league and possibly the Brisbane leaue. My point is where does he stop? Im guessing that he has decided (rightly or wrongly) at attending the Shute Shield and Brisbane Comp? and not any of the other leagues around the country.

The Great Umaga for an Aussie S15 spot

Heard a rumour that BDP and his brother are heading there and John Smit too. But that is just a rumour. I cant remember where I heard it either. And I cant remember how up to date it is. Edit: maybe someone like Paarlbok could substantiate / squash this rumour.

Slim, Deans doesnt come and watch any of the perth league, or the Melbourne league, or the Darwin league. He has missed the gems that populate the Adelaide league too.

The Great Umaga for an Aussie S15 spot

If the rumours are to be believed, the Lions have sourced themselves some rather good props and hookers for the coming season.

The Great Umaga for an Aussie S15 spot

He has been playing well? He is what, 35 now? Id be a little nervous about him keeping up in Super Rugby. Edit: Force have the marquee spot open too...

World XV (Or Earth's XV, Terran XV, whatever you like)

I agree with you regarding Mealamu - he is very good at the moment, and TPN hasnt played much to warrant his choice. Although I think when TPN is back to fitness and finds form, he will be justified to be in the squad. Matfield shouldnt be there. He has been average this year. The Boks lineout...

MacQueen turned the Wallabies around in one pre-season

Might have him ahead of Weeks. But I think with the training that Ma'afu has received that Weeks would be at least where Ma'afu is now.

    Uni vs Wicks

In terms of the crowd support, I dont think dropping from 25k to 5k is a huge issue. The Shute Shield is nowhere near the top of Australian rugby. Comparing it to the AFL or NRL GFs are ludicrous. If you want to compare apples with apples, look to the Bledisloe Cup match. A parrallel Ill draw is...

MacQueen turned the Wallabies around in one pre-season

Id also suggest that Fairbrother and Palmer are better scrummagers than Ma'afu. Thats what annoys me about his selection. We had an inexperienced loosehead in Ben Daley and an inexperienced hooker in Fa'ainga also playing early in the piece. Instead of sticking someone who could hold their end...

World XV (Or Earth's XV, Terran XV, whatever you like)

He is a fantastic player, and really glad to have him as a Wallaby. But the way he throws hos body around, will he last long enough (no critisism, he puts his body on the line every time)? And Groucho, has he had many injuries other than the one that is keeping him out at the moment (which if I...
