    Running Rugby- Australia's Jonah Lomu

can he pass, tackle, kick? can he play 13? why not put him on the bench and give him run if the right situation arises? (desperation?)

    Reds' Frame of Mind

Better than the Sharks and Chiefs?! I think the benchmark should be "better than last year", with "much better than last year" a bonus. Will the Reds be confident going into the match with the Crusaders, because of their spirited performance against the Tahs? or will they be nervous because...

G&GR Reds Player of the Match (v Tahs)

no arguments here, but credit where it is due - he has sorted out the haircut.

    Tahs vs Stormers

I wasn't pining for his return, just curious. Especially as there doesn't seem to be any replacement. I hope he is the last of the league converts - ever.

    Lessons from round 1 (?)

Surely with the strength of the scrum and the speed of the outside backs (not Carter) we can expect some interesting back line play from scrums - maybe a winger or fullback popping into the line...something?...anything?....please?

G&GR Tahs Player of the Match (v Reds)

Ioane looked good a 13 last season, but out of place on the wing. This is one area I think the coach got wrong - Ioane should be 13 for the Reds for sure.

    Tahs vs Stormers

The balance of the Waratahs squad is not quite right. Only one recognised 13, only one (albeit Waugh) number 7. What happened with Tahu? Is he injured? Kicked?

    Brumbies V Bulls

My initial gut feeling was that the Brumbies will be pounded, with or without Elsom, but maybe not... The Bulls let in a lot of points, and the Brumbies backs are much stonger than the Cheetahs (they do have some serious speed on the wings though). The potential fast phase ball could benefit a...

G&GR Australia player of the S14

How do we decide who the Aussie player of the s14 is? We all give our divergent opinions throughout the season, then award it to George Smith.

    Tahs vs Stormers

A real shame about Mumm. Mowen should be starting at 6 anyway (even when Mumm is back). The locks have two matches to stake a claim on the spot next to Mumm in the second row when he returns. Jowitt looks average at best - I'd like to see what the others have to offer. If we could find a...

even if that was the case, why retire Waugh? and who do the Tahs have to replace him?

    Aussie XV Round 1

"10. Cooper" - heaven help us all. Who would I have instead? ANYONE but him.

    Lessons from round 1 (?)

What?! Why?! He is the first name on the team sheet. His leadership (and all round play) dragged the Tahs through that game, and kept them in it.

    Lessons from round 1 (?)

The Waratahs pulled a win out of the air (or somewhere else), but were not really very impressive. There are a couple of things that will have to be very different if they are to defeat more challenging opposition (the Reds were poor - we are only talking them up because they set such low...

TYS Wallaby of the Year: v ABs

All very sad but here goes: 3. Barnes (shame he is made of glass) 2. Smith 1. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) (despite his CRAP KICKS!) other honourable mentions - Robinson, Hynes (for getting stuck in at least), Elsom (even though he is a penalty machine) There are a few guys who should be sweating their selection this...

    Good article on George Smith

OK, I'll bite. Anyone who has read all of my comments (probably no one, lets face it - I'm not that interesting) regarding George Smith will know that I was a fan of his (and still think he is a fine player). He has been a great flanker for the Wallabies. He is very skilled. He gives his all...

    Western Force 2010

Re: Comings and goings at the Force Pretorius would be a good buy for the Force, but I think he'd suit the Tahs game better (and he'd sort out the kicking issues there too). Though who knows what style the Force will be playing anyway?
