You have Hodge, Maddocks, Wright(where is Wright?) and if you want a Folau type option Vunivalu. Of course DHP might be an option.

Rodda has made it clear he doesn’t want to come. LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) looks like a rusted on Red now. How do these guys get away in the first place?

    Waratahs 2021

A winger??? You are going to need to start a little closer to the action. What good is a winger that never sees the pill? Need tight five players with experience/leadership qualities.

    Waratahs 2021

You cant really pin it on Penney. He has not been great but neither have the last two coaches in regard to leaving the side in decent shape. It’s more likely the lack of good forward planning within the administration. The money.....meh. That also has to do with sound management and planning...

I dont know the ins and outs of the NSWRU but surely they should have a very competitive side all of the time pretty much. No excuse for what has happened now? Someone must have seen it coming?

    Waratahs 2021

No, its not the case now but initially it was and the Brumbies were not given much chance by punters in those first few seasons. There were limited Super Rugby places in Australia and the excess, mainly from NSW went there. It’s certainly not the case now with the Brumbies being the strongest Australian...

    Waratahs 2021

The Brumbies were made up of mostly NSW rejects initially. Those deemed not good enough early in their careers. Same happens today and for the most part they never return. Recognising talent is not now, and has never been, a strength of NSW rugby.

Looks like Rodda might be going to the Force. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/rodda-to-take-massive-pay-cut-and-spurn-waratahs-to-come-home-20210308-p578vp.html

He is exciting and also got through some grunt work on top of his explosive attack. Definitely one to watch.

    Waratahs 2021

No, no, no. McReight will challenge Hooper for the Wobs starting jersey at 7 this year. Tizzano has heart but looks to be a bit limited. Now Ansty......this bloke could be something!

I just don’t see it in him Eastman. Nothing personal. They need some solid leadership and I dont think he will be able to provide it, not on his own anyway IMHO.

    Waratahs 2021

How is it that they have no money whereby all of the other franchises have been recruiting and keeping the players they want? Can only be one thing or one group.

    Waratahs 2021

It will be interesting to see how they go against the Force. If you look at them across the board they lack any form of true leadership, including Gordon. I just do not rate him as a captain to be followed in the mould of most that we see. They need to write this year off and recruit well for...

    This could get very ugly.......

Hugh Sinclair was VC last week. He might be given an opportunity starting with a C next to his name?

He will be pushing for a start at test level this year I reckon

    RIP GAGR

Thanks Matt and all for keeping up the site. I first subscribed a long time ago when living in the Bahamas. There were few opportunities to talk of or get news about Australian rugby. This site has been a godsend. Sad to see you go but what you have done over time is more appreciated than you...

Wallabies v Pumas, Bankwest (Parra), Sat 5th December

Sio is OK and should be in his prime. He has a tendency to drop his bind when under pressure or go down. Surely this can be coached out of him? Bell is a way off from being a starting option. Mind you it looks as though we have some decent prop depth right now.

I like the look of Maddocks too. However, he has been in camp the whole time and has had a couple of runs with the As. You would have to assume that Rennie and his assistants feel like he is not quite there yet. Another season at the back for the Tahs will be good for him and let us know if he...

Wallabies v Pumas, Bankwest (Parra), Sat 5th December

I think we are lacking a bit at lock and hooker. Philip was excellent. Not pessimistic but realise that we need to bring these young blokes through rather than going back to those on their way out of test rugby. Another full year of Super Rugby will help the development also for players like Hosea, Blyth...
