Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

Some sloppy hands around the breakdown again from the Wobs. Definitely an area they can improve on.

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

Some of the Wobs passing in the backline there looked like pass the parcel. Thought they did well to work that penalty. Especially Genia who got the ball out quickly twice when it looked like the ABs might turn it over.

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

Wobs have bossed the game since the ABs try but they've only scored 3 more points in that period, a bit worrying. Still there's plenty of time for them to claw this back.

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

In fairness to AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) any pass that was on was pretty difficult as he'd outrun his support. I think he did the right thing retaining the ball and allowing the Wobs to recycle it.

Excellent break by AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) followed by a silly kick from Genia.

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

Nice turn over won by Hooper there. Overall Aus have responded very well since going behind.

Mogg is doing very well under those bombs, one positive light from the Wallabies start so far.

Very poor defending from JOC (James O'Connor) left himself in no mans land and made it easy for the ABs.

    Sloppy start from Aus.

Almost as excited for this game as I was for the Lions series. Hope it's a cracker.

    Beale to Tahs, where?

Off topic but that's something that really annoys me about politics (both party and organisational). People generally spend the first year to 18 months dismantling or fixing what their predecessor did. Then, depending on how things are expected to go, spend the last year to 18 months doing 1 of...

    Wallabies team name

Maybe Quantas did pay extra for the naming rights. But since they got it any future sponsor may expect it to be part of the package from the start. It's very difficult to turn the clock back on something like that once it's been done once.

    Scrum tactics

Anytime I've seen/heard the "use it" call in relation to a scrum it's been a courtesy extended by the referee, to let the team in possession know they need to get the ball out of the scrum, because if it's stays in he's almost certainly going to turn over possession.

    The Haka

They could use the locks for the may poles.

    Scrum tactics

I certainly don't think it'll be a case of teams that are currently exploiting the hit for advantage will go down and others will come up. I think it';; be more related to how teams and nations plan for and adapt to change. As in the past certain teams and nations have been ahead of the curve...

    S18 on its way

If it was an 8 team quarterfinal I'd prefer to see the top 4 teams from the 2 conferences square off. It may result in no teams from 1 or 2 countries making the quarterfinal some years. But without separate country conferences there's no need to give any country guaranteed QFs spots.

    S18 on its way

The proposed new format also leaves the door open for a format more akin to the HEC albeit with more games. Possibly in the future there could be 4 pools with 2 each for SA + ARG and NZ, AUS & Japan. I think it's good that they are planning for the future and aren't retraining their thinking...

    The End of Super Rugby

Super Rugby generally is viewed as very high quality entertainment up north. However it doesn't always attract a large viewership. That's more to do with time zones than anything else. NZ games are generally at 6-8am so have the lowest viewership. Aus games are at 10-11am so the time is a bit...

    The End of Super Rugby

One thing transfers would also do is significantly increase the power and influence of agents. In soccer as agents get a cut of any transfer fee they often engineer moves for players more regularly than the player themselves would like to move. If transfer fees do eventually come into rugby...

    The End of Super Rugby

Although it's a possibility that Super Rugby could come to an end in 2016 I don't think it will. I think once the French teams commit to the new HEC deal the English will follow. Even if SA were allowed into a revamped HEC it's hard to see them being allowed 6 teams when the English and French want...
