Italy v Australia, Sunday Nov 10 2013, Stadio Olimpico

I don't see why the ARU couldn't employ a kicking coach and rotate him around the S15 franchises to provide extra sessions for the kickers. Then he'd join up with the Wallaby squad along with the players. It would be hard to imagine the S15 sides would turn down a free resource aimed at...

Australia Vs. England, Twickenham, 2nd November 2013

For me Link made the mistake of not putting all the coaches on notice at the start of TRC that they were on a trial period. Then had a review before the tour, getting rid of the dead weight and bringing in the guys who can deliver the improvements he wants. I still think the Wobs will do...

    Ireland Samoa 9th November

Keith Earls joins the long list of Irish injuries and he's out of this one with a knee injury. This is probably the one game most Irish fans expect us to win. But with a new coach and very poor performances at test level over the past couple of seasons I don't think we have the right to expect...

Wales vs South Africa, Sunday 10 Nov, Cardiff

Warren Gatland's refusal to meet referee Alain Rolland ahead of this game is making headlines up here. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/24814317 Seems Gatland still holds a grudge over he Warburton sending off. Stuff like this is why referees at test level are reticent to give out...

    Long Term Combinations

Pocock is an exceptional player but I've not been very impressed with him as a captain. His decision making was a big factor in the 9-6 defeat to Scotland. However I do agree that the captain should be an automatic choice and shouldn't just be picked because he's the captain. By next season...

I noticed that too and commented on it to my dad at while watching. Australia seemed to start most of the kicking contests and invariably ended up on the wrong end of the result.

Australia Vs. England, Twickenham, 2nd November 2013

Wasn't the best game in the world yesterday. George Clancy and the other officials had an off day, he's usually a pretty good ref. But as we're all apt to do if that bad day is against your team it can become a lifelong judgement on their ability. But their bad day at the office pales in...

    Northern Hemishpere Rugby 2013

I would have thought that it would make more sense to have the winners take the final spot for the next year. There's no better play off than the final of the competition.

    Northern Hemishpere Rugby 2013

Ireland squad for our November internationals against Samoa, Australia and New Zealand. Backs: Isaac Boss (Leinster), Tommy Bowe (Ulster), Gordon D'Arcy (Leinster), Keith Earls (Munster), Robbie Henshaw (Connacht), Paddy Jackson (Ulster), David Kearney (Leinster), Rob Kearney (Leinster), Ian...

    Northern Hemishpere Rugby 2013

The Welsh Rugby Union has proposed central contracts for Welsh star players playing for the regions. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/24647172 It's not the tough stance people were hoping for. But maybe it will tackle the main reason the Welsh Regions backed the English and French...

    Northern Hemishpere Rugby 2013

I would definitely say that guy is seriously naive if he thinks that this will have no effect on Irish rugby. The English and French teams want more money, that means that someone has to get less money i.e. the Pro12 teams. If the PRL have done a deal with the Welsh regions it will probably...

    Northern Hemishpere Rugby 2013

I was hoping that FFR's stance would scare the Welsh regions away from a move like this as to my mind they were always the weak link of the Rabo teams, given their not so stellar relationship with the WRU. I'm not sure expulsion from the Pro12 would be much of a threat, with this development...

    Heineken Cup 2013/14

Nope, I was talking about the guy at Cardiff. Every time he announced the score and scorer he'd end it by shouting something like "Come on get behind the blues". The first few times the crowd cheered but by then end all but a handful of fans stopped cheering. So the MC is actually cutting down...

    Heineken Cup 2013/14

All 4 Irish provinces will be happy with their wins but only Connacht and Ulster will be happy with their performance. I thought Leinster were a bit disjointed, not helped by Gopperth performance. The pack did pretty well, but they've worked to do on their set piece. Scrum struggled at times...

    Heineken Cup 2013/14

Sarries also set a record for a pool game in the UK with a crowd of over 61,000. Whatever the English clubs think of the HEC, it's still extremely popular with the English fans.

    Heineken Cup 2013/14

Really enjoyed Saracens v Toulouse. Not a try fest like some of last week's games, but two excellent, in form, packs going head to head. Toulouse bossed the scrum but Saracens had a similar advantage in the lineout. Saracens were also very competitive at the breakdown, where they've been blown...

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

I don't agree with this rule change as I like how in touch is determined at present. But I'd love to see it implemented just to see a TMO try to determine what constitutes most of a players body where someone is half in and half out in the build up to a try.

    Heineken Cup 2013/14

What a day in the HEC. 2 games with 10 tries each. First up Exeter scored 6 tries beating Cardiff 44-29. Exeter had their bonus point for 4 tries wrapped up within 30 minutes. They had the game won at half time being up 36-3. That didn't stop Cardiff going over 4 times themselves in the 2nd...
