Union or League - what did you start with?

League first. Then Super League happened. Became disillusion with it. Started casually following union. Now, I love it and don't follow league. Looking now from the the outside, league comes across as suffering little man syndrome at times.

    Rugby Predictions for 2012

Rob Horne to play more games than he misses. ;)

is this true ? Can the Brumbies go under ?

Agree with the general sentiments that the precedent has been set by the ARU with regards to the Tahs and Reds being helped in their time of need. So the Brumbies should receive the necessary assistance if it comes to it. Being based in Canberra, any chance a Federal government department...

    Super Rugby Membership Watch

Yeah, the Tahs need to play attractive, winning rugby on a consistent basis to entice the fans to get season tickets. Failure to do this will mean no amount of marketing will get fans to sign up. The Reds are winning at the moment, so it’s no surprise people are jumping on the bandwagon. The...

    Sledging

I heard this originally occurred in an English county championship match when Greg Thomas of Glamorgan bowled to Viv Richards when he played with Somerset.

    Rugby Jerseys and Merch Deals

I saw the 2012 Eels jersey at Rebel last night selling for $160 so it looks like the Eels are pocketing the gains themselves. If this is successful, no doubt other teams/codes could get in on the act. It then would be intriguing to see what the major brands/suppliers do in response.

Things that get up my nose about rugby these days

Yeah...bad enough at the rugby with two 40 minute halves. Absolute pain in the arse when it goes on for a whole day or afternoon/evening as they slowly get more intoxicated. Not as bad during a Test match, but the ODIs can be a nightmare, especially as many of these clowns get up during an over.

    Rugby Jerseys and Merch Deals

As a whole, Tahs fans don’t seem to get into wearing the team colours (Why is that? It’s not magenta or lime green.) or generating much atmosphere at the SFS. The most animated I recall seeing the fans was the Cheetahs game in the 2011 season, but for the wrong reasons though. Hopefully, there...

    Rugby Jerseys and Merch Deals

Yes, they are sponsoring the team and not the fans. That's why I prefer to get the RWC team gear, if possible, as it is not cluttered with sponsors. Also, really disappointing when the team logo is relatively small when compared to the sponsor logos.

I tried on one of the green Wallabies game day jackets at a store on the weekend. Nice, but felt like a walking billboard for Qantas with five of its logos on the jacket.

    Waratahs 2012

Unless something has changed since the contract was signed in 2010, the current deal with HSBC lasts until the end of 2013. They did get a new sleeve sponsor for 2012 with Volvo replacing Mazda. Not sure how long this partnership is for though. Here's the link to the announcement of HSBC's...

    Waratahs 2012

It's a decent scarf. Agree that it could have been longer, but pleased it doesn't have tassels. Hope there's something different next year.

    Waratahs 2012

Canterbury at Alexandria was recently clearing out Waratahs caps for $5.

RE: the major sponsor of the Reds on the jersey. Could it have something to do with the shade of red of the jersey? It could be different to the red used for the St George brand and so sponsor logo could not be blended into the jersey like the NRL Dragons gear.

    Rugby Jerseys and Merch Deals

I remember the days when the Reds store listed their stock on eBay. They also had some Tahs gear going cheap as well. A bit hit and miss with the quality though.

    Rugby Jerseys and Merch Deals

Ummm…sure they have been offering deals on a range of jerseys recently. However, exclude the junior sizes and it has only been the Brumbies (twice) and the Australian Sevens in adult sizes that have been offered to date. Furthermore, the first four days of the KooGa 12 day Christmas sale has...

    Rugby Jerseys and Merch Deals

There mustn't be a lot of love for the Brumbies at the moment if they are offering their jerseys at this price. Deal 1 was for a Brumbies polo shirt and a couple of weeks ago, the 2010 jersey was the Deal of the Week. Looking forward to seeing what they offer for the rest of the promotion period.

    Super Rugby Membership Watch

I received the 2012 Tahs membership pack today...membership/ground entry card, lanyard and scarf. Definitely would not be keen to pay the supporters membership of $40 (plus $9.95 transaction fee) for just the membership card/lanyard and the chance to get match tickets and discounted merchandise.

    IRB Sevens 2012

Most, if not all, long term Wallabies fans are aware of how the Australian rugby union team became the Wallabies and the background as to why the Wallabies wear gold. So I would like to learn the same about the Thunderbolts as the team builds its profile progressing towards the Olympics in...

    IRB Sevens 2012

RE: link between the bushranger and the Thunderbolts. Has the ARU made particular reference to this or is it a connection you made? Also, what is the Australian link in lime green other being a shade of green? If you have a source/link which can give an insight into how the ARU came up with the...
