Crusaders v Reds, Round 11, 6 May 2016, AMI Stadium, Christchurch

Lindo, I cast my mind back to the days of Link, Coker, Poido and see loitering and lurking taken to new heights. As for Fitzy I think it was a case of preserving energy. He knew Michael Jones would soon steal the ball and he would be ready for attack.

There's a difference in this situation though at the very least in the ref/TMOs mind, that Dixon did not jump into the tackle but rather jumped to catch ball. It was awkward sequence all round, and on balance I think the right decisions were made - onfield and off.

Crusaders v Reds, Round 11, 6 May 2016, AMI Stadium, Christchurch

Nah we just save all our cynical stuff for when we play the Reds. It's a little retribution for all the cynicism at the breakdown that Beau Robinson, Horwill, Higginbotham, Samo got away with in that 2011 final....

    Thanks Aussie teams

They did. Probably their best performance in terms of attack. Blues finally got an away win. It's been a long time between drinks for them.

    Waratahs v Cheetahs, Round 11, 7 May 2016

How laboured was the Cheetahs attack? It was like things went into slow motion replay when they had the ball. They lacked any sort imagination as well. Tahs were okay. They defended well.

If it's the same situation I'm thinking of, that did coincide with a dominant period in Wallaby rugby!

Yeah I thought Mertz was pretty good tonight. He had a good mix of insight and wit. Sumo has gone backwards in my estimation.

Stormers vs Waratahs Round 10 @ Newlands

Not sure Nick. Foley jumped forward so it wasn't as if he was occupying that space before his opponent.

Stormers vs Waratahs Round 10 @ Newlands

Yeah I like the look of that Holloway. Could be a real missing link for a Wallabies squad that has been searching for just decent hard playing locks.

Reds v Cheetahs - Super Rugby Round 10

That's not good news. He looked dangerous tonight and thought he and Hunt combined well. Broken hand injury will have him on the sidelines for 5-6 weeks I reckon.

Reds v Cheetahs - Super Rugby Round 10

Frisby has issues with his pass, but he is by far the best supporting halfback in Australia. Probably the quickest as well. Wouldn't be out of place as a back up for the Wallabies.

Stormers vs Waratahs Round 10 @ Newlands

Blue, I question how you could've seen us lying on the ground given our invisibility capes....

Stormers vs Waratahs Round 10 @ Newlands

This is a critical game for the future of Australian rugby. Just wanted to say that before MCHS does :) Stormers scrum is very good but they are reckless in my view at the breakdown. If Tahs can compete at the breakdown I don't think Fraser will let the Stormers just fly off their feet like...

    Brumbies 2016

Agree. We aren't seeing those hard solid tackles we are used to from him or the straight hard running to the line that would draw in multiple defenders opening up space for others.

Does the national coach have any say in Super team selection? Does Folau have any say in where he is selected to play?

Wow. 3 opensides and an undersized lock.

Brumbies v Crusaders Super Rugby Round 9

Part of the reason we see deep standing backlines is that when you are getting driven back in the tackle or not dominating the collisions, the 1st receiver often starts drifting back further because of the pressure. If that happens then everyone else sort of follows. Win the collisions and you...

The pass was fine. Woodward didn't have his hands ready and reacted to slowly in my opinion. Barrett played fine other than his goal kicking in what we're pretty difficult Wellington conditions. If you've ever been to the cake tin it really does swirl in that stadium at the best of times.

Brumbieman - the interesting thing about your argument and the Bledisloe is that we won back the Bledisloe with the two playmaker inside backs (Spencer and Aaron Mauger) and the more direct and abrasive centre (Umaga). The ABs had been building that combination for a year or so after going with...

    Waratahs v Brumbies - Round 8, 2016

Brumbies forwards were far more aggressive at the collisions albeit not very accurate once the ball hit the deck. But they sucked in forwards than Gibson would've liked. That 2014 season (yes we were robbed in the Grand Final :) ) the Tahs forwards were very effective at working together. A...
