I'm with Sideline. OC in particular is a difficult position to defend in. The Knox backline will not be unhappy running at Murphy in space

Murphy played in centres for a few matches in U14s or 15s. As a Knox supporter, I wish they'd left him there as he had considerably less impact than as a tough mobile loosie. If Waves are keen to repeat the experiment, I'm all for it. 9 would seem a real stretch, but that's what trials are for.

    NSW AAGPS 2017

Not too sure about the Tongan connection, but the keen eyed may notice more than a passing resemblance to a good number of last year's very talented NSWRU U15s. Fortuitous to be sure.

Bang on Armchair. He was given every opportunity by the NSW coaches who hadn't seen or selected him as he didn't play at the u16s trials (as a shadow for opens he was an automatic selection). Those coaches watched him play a couple of games and opted for a different set of starting wingers for...

No question. Max is a good centre b/c he can put people into space and defends the channel reasonably well. I don't think he would be anywhere near as effective out wide. He doesn't have that elusiveness you refer to nor the speed over shorter distance compared to other wingers at the top...

W88, Your 14 was not able to crack a starting jersey for NSW U16s last year and I can't see him getting a NSW opens one over the same competition plus the boys who are backing up in opens again this season. @SDW, In a similar vein, Towns was running 11.99 for the 100m last season and is not...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

@GPS Observer, the flouting of the Code is not simply an embarrassing joke though - it undermines the values many of the AAGPS schools purport to inculcate in their charges. How can boys be expected to believe in concepts such as honour, integrity, respect and justice when those teaching are...

Which clubs are the Class of 2016 going to?

Charlie Rorke and Nick Frost will be in yr 12 at Riverview and Knox respectively.

B BM, what's the story re Matt Williams? Is he off contract at the end of this season? If so, is there any word out of Knox as to whether Tai Glassie will take over the reins acrosss the whole rugby program?

I'm not sure it's as bad as all that B&W. Barker not only won in the mid noughties but as recently as 2013 (after also winning 2010 and 2012) and are going through a rebuilding period as all schools do from time to time. I suspect that they will be a very competitive force in 2017. I won't...

    Schools Sevens Competition

Great to have the streaming, though a bit confusing at first with with White playing in Blue and Blue playing in Green. Yool seems to have some wheels. Any stand outs from those at the ground?

    The Ideal NSW Schools Comp

Wouldn't you run into issues with club numbers given majority who would want to play school rugby also probably play (or used to play) club? Plus in my experience the main reason for leaving club rugby at 15 and above is the demands of school rugby or a preference for league (eg Harold Matts)...

    CAS Rugby 2017

By that reasoning, the CAS rep team will be all Knox/Waves? Seems both unfair and unlikely given the talent in the other teams, and presumably the desire not to disenfranchise those other CAS schools. I'd imagine Scots and Shore would also be less than thrilled. Can't see it happening - I...

    CAS U16s 2016

^^^WLF, I have much less of an issue with recruitment in yr 7, as typically this is a genuine attempt to bring a lad/family in who would otherwise not be in a position to fund the fees for a genuine all round education over 5-6 years. At this point, their rugby could go either way in the...

    CAS U16s 2016

The "free education" siren song can be hard to resist. Unfortunately, as our parents frequently pointed out, there is no such thing as a free lunch and both the new and existing diners can end up short changed when the former are expected to perform like professionals and the latter are...

    CAS U16s 2016

I don't think anyone should assume that Towns will be walking into the IC slot or even starting in Knox 1sts 2017. This year's IC will be backing up as will a couple of handy wingers. Max is a good player, but so are the others, and he will need to earn his spot against some yr 12 boys. Best...
