NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2016

@rugboy, if the original premise is incorrect and all of these boys are playing both, then mea culpa and full marks to them for being prepared to do the hard work involved in pursuing the dual paths.

NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2016

I think at least one of the lads was selected in NSW I, so i dont think the lower rank theory applies

NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2016

@Sideline, that's a fair call, but the boys in Q have not chosen to pursue both. Rather, they went into the rugby trials knowing that they had already been selected for RL and then promptly dropped out of union once their selection for NSW was announced. It's hard to avoid the conclusion that...

Ahhhhh, right & honourable. Concepts you doesn't see mentioned much on Facebook (or so I'm told). Young Mr Murray will go a long way I'll hazard.

NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2016

You did SS and its interesting those boys decided to seek selection for Schools rugby and then announce that they will not be competing in favour of fivekick. Obviously they knew before being selected for NSW rugby, so begs the Q - why not withdraw before the teams are announced, save the...

NSW AAGPS - The Next Generation - U16 Competition, and Presidents XV Rep Team

Thx. An interesting roll of the dice then if you have a strong preference for one (presumably NSW Schools) over the other (Syd or Country). And you would never know whether or not you had been selected for your first preference. I suppose if a lad is really confident he will make Schools, he...

@ Armchair, Sean Kennedy (CAS #2) is playing for MNZ in u15s, so the Kyle Devine situation could recur.

Q for the experts - if you are on both lists and Syd get first dibs, do you as the player get told and the option to choose or does the fact you have left yourself on both pathways mean you can only go with whoever has first rights (ie, you can withdraw from Syd but cant then play for Schools)?

NSW AAGPS - The Next Generation - U16 Competition, and Presidents XV Rep Team

Boys who play at the NSW Schools trials and who also play club rugby and are selected into regional teams/Baa baas, are eligible to be selected by either Schools for NSW Schools u16s or by SJRU for Syd u16s (or by CJRU for Country U16s where applicable). As part of any uneasy truce b/w the...

    CAS U16s 2016

Agree Joeys entitled to feel pretty pissed off about that. My point was more around tournament rugby though.

    CAS U16s 2016

And the Wallabies almost lost to Scotland in the World Cup. If you were selecting a World 15 the day after the final, would you have had more Scots than Wobs in the squad? Good teams win the tight ones. ISA came 4th losing 2 out of 3 matches, so the loss to CAS was no one-off lapse. CAS came...

And who is Kreighton? Doesn't seem to be in the program. Is this a team based on what you saw at the trials or what you saw at Harold Matts?

    CAS U16s 2016

Yes he did come on at hooker v CCC and immediately took a tight head that, as a back rower I'm sure he will dine out on for years to come!

NSW AAGPS - The Next Generation - U16 Competition, and Presidents XV Rep Team

I've always rated Max highly as a lock, though thought he had a bit of filling out to do as of late last year. Maybe he has. Haven't seen him play at 8, but there were some excellent 8s on display at Curagul incl 2 in Reimer and Titmuss who couldn't even crack a starting spot in their own...

    CAS U16s 2016

I am largely in agreement with @Backline Move though suspect the selectors will prefer Byron H-D to Westbury. I also think Reimer had a big impact off the bench against ISA and Pres A, but acknowledge the depth of quality back rowers may make his selection a longer shot.

@Backline Move, it seemed as though Douglas was originally announced at 5 for ISA. Did they switch him into 8 in place of Manu? If so, do you know why?

    CAS U16s 2016

^^^^No argument there, and last year's score line was not really the point, simply that when competitive, teams in the final share the lollies. It simply beggars belief that only 3 players from CAS performed in a match lost 23-14 with tries locked up at 2 each.

    CAS U16s 2016

History would suggest that the losing team in the final, if not on the end of a flogging, would reasonably expect to have more than 4 selected (and you have only selected 3 who actually played in the match??). Last year ISA went down by 23 points and had 7 selected. CAS going down by 9 pts...

Think he will be one of first chosen, but agree Mclennan and Icanovski should not be far behind
