    Brumbies V Force Round 1 - 2012R01

Way to many Brumby fans here :x Here is my completely unbiased ratings of the two teams facing each other: Alexander v Cowen - Adv Brumbies Moore v Charles - Adv Brumbies Palmer v Ma'afu - Even (Palmer is better at the set piece, Ma'afu moves around a bit more) Power v Lynn - Adv Force - Who...

We did. He now plays in France.

    Western Force 2012

Id like to see Stannard kept as a 10. That would leave space in the squad, as I think we could sort out cover for Stannard should he go down. Its pointless trying to look for a 1 year cover as we will just hit this problem again next year. That would allow us to either bring in Godwin to the...

    Maxime Mermoz

The Brumbies and the Force could probably make the most use of him. I cant see the point of him going to the Rebels, Tahs or Reds as they are full of decent centres. I dont really know how the Force could fit him in (with Nalaga there as the import), so the Brumbies would be the way to go.

Interesting you say that, others seemed to think he went well? I didnt see him play so am open to comments.

    Wallaby injuries recovery time frames

They were saying in the Bronze medal playoff that it was Sharpes last ever game. I was taking that as he was retiring from internationals after the RWC. Could be wrong. Either way, we have Horwill and Simmons as starters. I would like to see Pyle and Wykes given a go there. I think Timani...

    Wallaby injuries recovery time frames

Add Horne and TPN to that list. Pre-emptively of course.

Id be bracketing Stannard as a ten. But I dont think that Swanepoel has re-signed, which is very disappointing.

What to do with JOC (James O'Connor)?

Yup. I guess you did. Perhaps you were asleep? To be fair, Drew Mitchell is one of the most exciting players out there. I would have him in a heartbeat on the wing over AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) (AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to the centres for either A Finger or McCabe for me).

So the Force development team is at about the same level as the Wallabies!

    James O'Connor #12, Rob Horne #13?

Our major competitors are heading towards larger centres who will hit the line hard (Nonu, SBW, Fourie, Olivier, etc). And with the selection of McCabe and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Deans is going down a similar line. based on the other backline talent we have, I dont think that is a bad idea. We have the fleet...

Justin Turner included as well, which must mean he is fit! I hope he stays that way.

    Tri Nations Game 4 South Africa v Australia - Saturday 13 August 2011 - 3N2011

I agree, back then he was arguably the best blindside going around. I guess his move to the Brumbies was not a clever move ;)

Fox Sports v Channel 9 Wallabies v All Blacks coverage this Saturday

They would go to a break in a stoppage which is fair enough. But they would go through about 30 seconds of the stoppage before going to the break, and then come back 30 seconds back into play. They were showing 2 ads per break as well which annoyed me.

The positives & failings from Bledisloe 1 2011

I am pissed off we lost. I really wanted to get the Bledisloe Cup back, and I really want to win the tri nations. I think we have a team that could do both. But in the lead up to the world cup, I saw a lot of positives that suggest we can beat any team we face. For one, no opposition will be...

    No Sharpie

I reckon it could be for one of two reasons. 1. Remember back in 2008, Sharpe was left at home for the SA tour. And remember how he played when he came back. He was a new man. Deans may feel that he is not playing the game that Deans wants. He might feel that dropping him again might make him...

    Returns from injury

I agree that if a player is the best in his position then he should start. But once the starting XV are nutted out, I think it wise to select the bench based on their impact as opposed to injury cover (injury cover does play a part of course).

    Australian Provincial Rugby Competition

APC as a national comp doesnt work. Id like to see the Shute Shield expand to pick up teams in Qld, ACT and Vic in the short term with a view to pick up WA in the longer term. Its how the AFL and NRL expanded and it works. Plus we keep the traditional teams going.

    Returns from injury

I like Burgess as an impact bench player. He is a player that doesnt control the backline true. But what he is very good at is the sniping run. What that will mean is that the defence will sit a little deeper just in case he does that meaning our backs will have a little more space. Late in the...
