    Returns from injury

Barnes, Palu (he either starts or isnt there) and Horne would be in the extended squad, the others all onto the bench. Mitchell would start though, at the expense of McCabe (who would go to the bench) So: Kepu, Moore, Alexander, Horwill, Slipper, Elsom, Pocock, McCalman, Genia, Cooper...

Why does the hooker throw in lineouts?

I think each position has something else to do on the field at lineout time. The backs with the exception of the scrummie get in position to run the ball - both wings, the centres, fullback and the flyhalf all need to be out there. Even if they dont they need to look like it in case things...

    Tri Nations - AUS v SAF 23rd July 2011.

Looking at the bench, I guess the question is not "who do the players cover as injury" but "what impact will these guys have late in the game." Hodgson isnt a good choice for that. Id of had Robinson (Im a Force fan too!) Higgers is a good bench choice as he plays very loose and with a tiring...

include pacific islander's into the tri nation .

And when the tickets are $20 instead of $80 revenue really drops.

include pacific islander's into the tri nation .

So when they play home games in Apia and get 5k along. And then there is the fact that the whole PIs have maybe 2m people, so broadcast revenue would be minimal.

include pacific islander's into the tri nation .

While it saddens me to say it, it is because there is not enough revenue to be made there. The cost would outweigh the revenue generated and that is probably the ultimate reason

    Tri Nations - AUS v SAF 23rd July 2011.

I think it will be a similar team to what we put out late last year (just no fatcat). Kepu Moore Slipper (if fit, otherwise Alexander) Sharpe Horwill Elsom Pocock McCalman Genia Cooper Ioane Giteau AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) JOC (James O'Connor) Beale Fa'ainga Alexander / Cowen Simmons Higgenbotham / Samo Burgess McCabe Turner...

    Wallabies Ratings Post Samoa 2011

I thought McCalman did quite well. He was one of the only forwards who could hold his head high. Id give him a 6. Higgenbum was a bit too much of a seagull for me. He looked good in that he set up a try by running down the wing and doing a great kick and gather. But why is a loose forward doing...

Quade Cooper - The most important player in Australian Rugby

I actually think that Beale has the same sort of influence that Cooper has. He was exceptional when he came on today. Genia is also really important. But it was the forwards that lost that game today. They didnt get involved at the breakdown. I think a front row of Slipper and Kepu would be...

Benn Robinson Ruled Out for the 2011 Season with Injury

My understanding is that the tighthead will rarely be the one to destroy the opposition scrum, on account of having both the opposition loosehead and hooker pushing against him. It is the loosehead that will win the scrum, but he needs a stable tighthead to ensure that he can launch his attack...

So, the Australian scrum. Am I worrying too much?

Hmm, that sounds like a good question to ask...

Players we Should Have Selected Ahead of Salesi Ma'afu Based on Form

jay-c, I dont think anyone would say Ma'afu doesnt work around the field. But his scrummaging is not up to speed, and that is his promary function. As a tighthead, we need him to provide a stable platform. If he goes, so does our scrum. Dunning and Le Fuse, while not world class, have had...

    Wallabies Trinations Squad

I wouldnt have said that. Higgers has looked excellent both on the wing and in the centres this season. I guess my biggest concern is that he wants to stay out on his wing and wont come looking for work, and is not one of those backs that tends to get involved in the breakdown.

Players we Should Have Selected Ahead of Salesi Ma'afu Based on Form

Greg Holmes plays the wrong side of the scrum doesnt he? Or am I getting it wrong, thats why I left him out originally.

    Australian Super Rugby Performances 2011

I think it was a rather disappointing year. I mean they just didnt quite get as far as I expected. Its not like they won any real trophy at all is it... Overall: Gunned it Player Positives: All of them Player Negatives: None of them Next year: Just keep the same bloody team!
