Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

Petaia is good enough that he can play both roles. Daugunu played well but he isn’t a great kicker and isn’t fast enough. If we want a world class back three we should be looking for a little more; Petaia has a huge boot and solid top end speed. Sometimes you need a little more than work rate fp.

Not sure that lack of size is ever really an issue for fly-halves; lack of dynamism, sure.

Petaia would be very handy there- I hope Aus rugby can keep him.

    He’s the definition of a short-term option.

Why would rugby league do that Marce?

Wallabies v Wales Game 2 Sat 13 July Melbourne

He was very good around the park and at lineouts but he did seem underpowered in contact. Not sure if that’s something that can be fixed with a few more years in gym- he’s been a professional athlete for longer than four years.

I think Lancaster is likely the long term option but I’m it sure if he’s ready yet.

Marce we all get that, but what is your point?

Back 3 played well (although Daagunu will need to work on his kicking). The only issue is that apart from Wright there’s a real lack of speed there- I was astounded at how slow Filipino’s top gear was.

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

I mean he can’t pass or kick but he is a good ball runner; very strong in contact and relatively fast- he’d be a great rugby league player. Im not sure what makes him a fantastic rugby player?

Pietsch has always been more of an athlete than a rugby player; hence the multiple switching off positions during his career to try to best use his physical capabilities (number 8, centre and now wing). Wing looks like the long term solution as it’s less technical than the others. Honestly I...

    Aussie Player Exodus

There’s certainly an argument for that. It could be Rugby Australia being pragmatic and wanting to get the best players on the field, but I don’t think he’s that good- especially with his current physique.

Pietsch can’t kick or pass either.

    Waratahs 2025

Good blow up. Morgan Turinui is actually a pretty balanced and insightful commentator (compared to the mundane Horan and incoherent Harrison).

    Wallabies 2024

And he’s a better winger than Josh Flook, especially considering the style of rugby they play.

    Wallabies 2024

Highlanders maybe at best- he would not make any other teams (and we can do the exercise and list them too).

    Wallabies 2024

The squad is pretty weak in across the entire front row, centres and wings- apart from that its adequate.

    Wallabies 2024

I think it says more about how poor our depth at wing that we are even considering Flook, and have selected Pietsch. Its not an exaggeration to say that neither would make any starting side of the NZ teams; we’re really missing Petaia.

    Australian Rugby / RA

I still think it’s short sighted and sugar hit. Eventually any player of any ability will head overseas and the local product will be worthless. All this does is mean that there’s even less eyeballs on rugby, and eventually an even smaller player pool and more importantly casual market. The...

So you are proposing literally nothing but an extended planning phase? Everything you have said would have either been done multiple times or is currently happening now. Ill simplify your every post - find the right format and convince the players and other key stakeholders.
