I’ll let BR address this for me.

This guy fucking gets it. Gee some mediocre performers have been stalwarts in recent years.

Should Aus/NZ Test Sides Pick Overseas Players?

Known winner and high performer Reece.

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

He’s being replaced by an out of form Kellaway and a 20 year old with less than 15 professional rugby games.

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

I don’t think anyone period would suggest they are ready for Test rugby (and not sure how we even got to this point). The discussion is based on talent and potential. They might not be ready now, but how will they look after a few years of professional rugby and seasons of Super Rugby?

    Wallabies 2024

Koribete has been our best winger for half a decade, and he was not much more then a run of the mill NRL player…

    Wallabies 2024

You’ve just shown it again. League would absolutely not have been on Carter‘s radar growing up on the South Island of NZ. JOC (James O'Connor) and Quade played the sport and would have followed it as well; it’s absolutely reasonable that they have an attachment to it. I hate to break this to you but most...

    Wallabies 2024

McCaw and Carter never played league growing up while O’Connor and Cooper played plenty. They also weren’t immersed in NRL culture like we are in Australia. Basically it’s a ridiculous comparison, and post from someone out of touch.

    Wallabies 2024

I guarantee Gordon’s short kicking game and cross field kicking will be much improved from some time in league. They focus far more on core skills than rugby in the halves.

    Wallabies 2024

Some players suit rugby better then league and vice versa; remember Tom Wright was basically an outside back squad member for the Eagles.

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

I know and I should have said that but my point still stands- I’ve never seen him to do it at Super level

Oh we’re definitely in trouble for next year.

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

Playing for the strongest domestic franchise, and an international series against Wales and Georgia, is not a bad way to pad the stats.

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

I think Rennie would have transitioned to Gordon but that’s moot now. There are better fly halves coming through the ranks- we should be able to write Lolesio off pretty soon.

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

Lolesio’s criticism is deserved; it’s not just the decision-making, it’s also his skill execution which is appalling for Australia‘s best fly-half. He passes behind the man frequently, catches the ball stationary, and never nails his cross-field kicks. Ikitau looked like a better ball-player...

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

Marce, Hamish Stewart has been playing Super Rugby for at least 6 years now, Michael Hooper had one or two seasons before picked. It’s probably an indication of their relevant talents and a terrible comparison.

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

I should have stated that it’s reasonable to argue that they are the best available (which is a low bar), but it’s not because of irresistible and consistent form over Super Rugby.

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

I didn’t say anything about other teams dominating so don’t create a strawman (but by inference there must have been 3 Australian teams who were higher performing and supported by their 9/10/12 axis). It‘s reasonable to say that Stewart/ Donaldson are the best available options we currently...

    Argentina v Australia, 8am Sunday 1 Sep (AEST) - TRC Round 3

100%. The combination was so strong that it powered the Force to second/ third last on the ladder. The Wallabies used to be reserved for good/excellent Super Rugby players, now we’re at the stage where just being picked in a Super Rugby squad is the threshold.
