Scratch that, it'll be well north of 800K. The channel 9 metro numbers hit 611K by themselves (Syd 219K, Mel 112K, Bri 138K, Ade 33K, Per 109K).

I think that sounds about right. 109K watched it in Perth, on Channel 9. That suggests a number a little bit shy of a million, all up.

I'm surprised to hear that. There can't be too much abc bias on the tv. I watch abc mornings pretty much every day, and I can literally name one afl player that isn't Adam Goodes. They talk about it occasionally, I even watch a game once in a while, but I tune out.

Not to distract from the original purpose of the thread, but Hunt has impressed me in the NRC. After another season in the game I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him in a wallabies jersey.

The rugby has (finally) started to get plenty of coverage in Sydney. Main story on both the front and back pages of the Herald, Australian and Telegraph. A week of coverage like that is invaluable.

NZ v SA got 113K on Fox, and 104K in the cities (not including Perth) on GEM. Due to the time difference, Perth has been making outsized contributions - so chuck another 40K on that.

So 268K watching at 2am on a Monday, not including everyone watching on FTA outside of the cities? That's not bad at all.

I firmly think some people are just very good at one of the codes and not very good at the other - good example is Will Chambers, or Rocky Elsom going the other way. I wasn't actually really predicting a 100-nil victory. More like 80-nil - might take the lads the first ten minutes to get used...

Fair bit of time I think. As this generation of high-school kids grows up though, they could at least start to put in a better showing than they did this world cup.
