I remember rugby bringing a lot of guys in around effective contact work - particularly front-on defence as the game got faster and players got bigger and fitter.
I gave my reasons why I think it could damage rugby. Losing the Bled is one of the major contributing factors in rugby losing non hardcore interest to other codes. Australian Rugby is the Wallabies. Losing a hybrid game to the Kangaroos would be just another stick to beat them with in the press.
After Grant's weird proclamation appointing himself acting-CEO it's since come out no commissioner can work for the ARL, he'd have to resign his commission. And then ask to be voted back on if he wants to return to the Chairman's role after finding a permanent CEO. Are the lunatics in charge...

The try to win this years GF is a good example of poor defensive systems/reading.
The 6 just tried to run around a defender just as he did when he was an 11yo.
Without a step or any change of direction he attracted 3 defenders, leaving his winger unmarked.
Just so poor...
Same but different. The try to win this years GF was similar to SA's try to beat Wales, involved the same mistake as SA try to beat wales.
That said, Morgan had been running for ages and was quite fast threatening the line without being bought down, vermulan was moving not particularly fast and not overly threatening, they could have kept the numbers and sliding and been fine.
The attack in league has a bigger advantage, with the extra space from the ten.
The rugby has (finally) started to get plenty of coverage in Sydney. Main story on both the front and back pages of the Herald, Australian and Telegraph. A week of coverage like that is invaluable.

a very positive article from Roy, who isn't known for giving a great wrap to other codes.
That said I am sure the union media will return the favour.

If anyone ever listens to the ABC, have a look at how there coverage of sports is skewered.
