Just having a bit of fun with the Scots connection there Wristy and no issue with Williams having had a big tournament. Yassmin is big, strong and fast which are unquestionably good attributes for a winger, and he looks great when the job is simply to pin the ears and go. But I think others...

I'll hazard a guess they'd come from the same school as his preferred lock and winger:-)

Agreed SLV, what should have been the high point of their rugby careers to date looks like being very deflating for a few of the nsw 1 boys. Did Hardaker get much game time today and if so, was it at IC? The limited video footage I saw was buffered and hard to make out, but seemed like it may...

Thanks Badger. That's the only explanation that makes sense.

Caught the end of the vid and Q2 in final whilst nsw 1 are playing off 3 v 4. How? Surely N1 had F/A advantage, bonus points whatever?

Crikey, who would have predicted this? Are NSW at full strength (all starting side on)?

Savala was unable to play in CAS v GPS and was leapfrogged into the team anyway. Like Smith in ones, another lesson in why you should only select those that are fit enough to play the initial selection trial and appear fit enough to get through the next level.

Agreed Rich. This is not unusual in tournament rugby and i think a sound strategy to ensure your firepower is ready willing and able come the matches that really count. It's only a shame it appears the coaches may not have communicated this. Though imo that too is not all that unusual in...

We don't know whether it was coaches or selectors who asked for the positional changes and as has been pointed out by many, there are min game time/starting team rules. The coaches/selectors may have planned this well in advance in the expectation this might be the least tough game for NSW 1...

16s is 3 games, but agree man management is important through judicious use of the bench. But man management wasn't the reason for the changes - it was selectors. As it happened, the 2 players moved on instruction were both selected for NSW in the 'new' positions, so it worked for them, but not...

Hopefully plenty of CHS boys, who now have the opportunity to prove the selectors wrong and make the final teams for Nationals.

It was close. 25-16 or thereabouts. Pres A deserved the win, but CAS were not helped by mid match selection changes at request of selectors.

I agree, but suspect Sideline may be right - selectors may have requested this. It certainly happened in the U16s last year, when selectors requested a number of players in CAS be moved to different positions during the final.

@KicknChase, no, Myers has been fit all season I think. Smith, who was picked at starting 13, limped off injured in first half in GPS v CAS (and looked good whilst out there). Perhaps he should not have been selected for NSW.

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2017

Didn't see the whole game, but seemed a very clinical performance by NSW 1. Outplayed the opposition in just about every position, and without a number of the regular starters on the pitch - Rorke, Frost, Robertson, Hardaker. From what I saw, Reimer, Illias and Lloyd all looked good. I'm not...

    CAS U16s 2017

CHS probably entitled to feel a bit harshly treated with only 2 in 1sts after almost winning the title. Meanwhile, ISAs charmed run with selectors continues with 6 in the 1sts after losing 2 from 3 matches including a 5-39 loss to Pres A, who in turn lost to CHS. I know it's about picking the...

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2017

NSW1 looked very strong def Vic 39-8. Vic looked likely to threaten early, but couldn't stay with NSW as the forwards rumbled over the advantage line and the backline fired. I thought Donaldson, Woodcock, Frost and Rorke in particular looked good, but they all stood up and, once settled...
