What about a BBC team? We have heard they have imported a lot but it will be interesting to see what the team ends up being. Will it be something like: 1. Benroy Sala 2. Brad Saunders 3 ? 4. Darcy Swain (new kid, qld u15) 5. ? 6. Ben Gunter (new kid, nsw u15) 7. Luke Peterson 8. Bronson...

Anyone want to have a go at predicting the GPS teams? Trials should be coming up soon

That's a big statement! No one else in the Grammar team has displayed skills like Marsden has; but yes, Laud, Kemp and Forsyth are more than capable of playing in the First XV rugby.

I disagree with this. Firstly, TSS generally have very weak U13 and U14 age groups but when it comes to Year 10 and 11, they suddenly become very strong because they bring in a tonne of new players. Southport would have around 7 or 8 boys on some form of scholarship in their First XV...

Yeah Swarley I'm not 100% sure but i am reasonably certain that's when they started last year. I haven't seen anyone training yet though. Toowoomba should start training; they'll need it. Losing players like Placid, Deck, Potgieter, Drew, Hartley, Vanzati and Minenko, as well as their coach will...

BGS don't start training until the start of Term 2. I would say Toowoomba, Churchie, Nudgee, BBC and Southport would all have started (considering they started this early last year).

No 'big name' players in there. How come none of those players were selected in QLD U16 teams or GPS teams last year?

Jonah Placid is not repeating. Isn't he contracted by the ARU or a rugby league club? Papworth played 7 last year for Southport, but also has experience as 6,8 and second row. I picked him over MacMillan and McNamee in GPS 1 because last year he played in the Combined States team in the U18...

Also heard the other day that BBC have replaced Junior with another huge backrower from Country NSW. Played NSW U15s last year so should no doubt make a solid contribution to BBCs title hopes.

Prediction GPS 1: 1. Lakehm Aiono (BGS) 2. Alex Mafi (NC) 3. Harley Fox (ACGS)/Paulo Leleisiuao (NC) 4. Dalton Cox (BGS) 5. Maclean Jones (NC) 6. Jayden Rodwell (NC)/Digger MacMillan (ACGS) 7. Luke Papworth (TSS)/Toby McNamee (GT) 8. Daniel Sitanilea (GT)/Jamason Shultz (IGS) 9. James Tuttle...

If Lakehm has repeated do you think he will play prop, number 8 or inside centre? Grammar have also picked up a couple of new guys who I have seen walking around school. Both QLD rugby league representatives, one is a loose forward and the other and outside back. Not sure on there names. The...

    Best current schoolboys coaches?

But when you put that into perspective it isn't that many. Most other schools have 6 or more imports in their First XV, other than Terrace, who have 3 (if you include Jack Heenan). And someone repeating doesn't count as an import, nor does someone who has been at the school since year 8.

I think 'The King' was joking when he said Grammar is the best ever schoolboy team- or at least I hope he was. There is no denying though, they were the best team this season, proving those who scrutinized them before the season wrong. If I had to choose backlines based on this season it would...

Pretty sure Marsden will be playing- should be a handful for the Nudgee defence. Zach laud or trey kemp to fill in for Radford. Both strong in defence but Grammar will lose some speed on that wing.

No one on this forum cares about U13 rugby.

Front row this weekend is: 1. Nick Newton 2. Al Harper (started every game) 3. Anthony Fatseas (started every game) Blackhurst, from what I have heard, should only be out for this round. Grammar's depth has been tested so far, but it has proven not to be a great issue.

Very true, my mistake. This also highlights Nudgee's depth in the front row- they were able to replace him with another QLD schoolboy rep!

    QLD GPS Rugby 2012

I think most schools are feeling the impact of injuries. BBC has probably been one of the worst schools effected, but Churchie and BGS are not far behind. Churchie lost their best player, Nigel Tanuvasa, in round two for the season, and many other players in that team are carrying injuries while...

I wouldnt call it significant importing. There are probably only 4 in the team that haven't been at the school since year 8. Nick Anderson was not playing for the first two rounds anyway and BGS still came away with two wins. Definitely a big loss but one grammar will be able to cover
