QLD Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2012

Jack Cornelson (BGS) played QLD II last year as a second-rower, so he will no doubt be in one of the two teams. Also, Alex West may not even be in the starting team for Churchie so I highly doubt his chances of making QLD schoolboys.

I don't think it will matter that much. His defensive game was solid and he always has Tuttle on his outside.

    Any trial matches this weekend?

IGS 2nd? I would put them at 5th and move everyone else up a place. Even though BBC do have a lot of new players I still don't see them top 4, maybe 5th or 6th? I agree with the most of the others though

TSS have done some heavy recruiting then. #8 for them was one of the biggest schoolboy player I have ever seen. While dominant with the ball in hand, he missed a few tackles and never went to the breakdown. I thought the #12 for TSS was also fairly impressive, made a few good line breaks.

But you say they have enormous depth, so surely their 2nd XV could be competitive with one of the weaker TSS packs?

Churchies weakness will definitely be their tight 5, scrums were dominated all night.

Most people from BGS on this thread have said that Aiono will be playing 12 this season? Can anyone confirm? Heathcote moving to the backrow is not a big loss for BBC with Conrad Quick taking over the inside centre position (QLD U15/U16 representative).

With GPS representative teams trials coming up, anyone want to predict a team?

I highly doubt Green is 127kg. That would make him heavier than Guthro Steenkamp......

Are nudgee looking as good as last years side?

    QLD GPS Rugby 2012

Since BBC are "shaping up as contenders", what is there team going to be?

I am pretty sure this BGS age group finished 3rd in the 15A competition (beating terrace, as well as Churchie). 16A results any year are not inidicative of where a team will finish on the First XV ladder. Going back, the 2009 16A team at BGS won one game in the entire season and came out in 2010...

BGS has around 8 players coming back for their second year of first XV. I would reconsider predicting them to finish in 8th place.

Light, I think you will find that TGS and BBC will be pushing to finish higher than 7th and 9th

Any new additions to that team?

You could consider Brisbane Grammar a bogie team for Churchie in this age group as I hear BGS defeated them in the U15 competition in 2010 and only marginally lost to ACGS in 2011 in the U16s with Grammar having half of their players from 2010 either in the firsts or injured.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Churchie will have kids on scholarships in the seconds

You can never predict a side in the gps competition before the beginning of the school year with new players always being brought in.
