Pre Season '16: Reds v Brumbies

If the Reds management can't get the basics like "what colour jersey should we wear, tonight" right, I don't fancy our chances with making any major decisions on or of the field during 2016!

World Rugby Sevens Caravan coming to Sydney

Gee Lindommer, you've rekindled some memories here! I can remember many occasions in the 1960s, when we country boarders, would have a few Tooheys, Reschs, or Tooths down at one of the pubs near Central Station, prior to catching the "Glen Innes Mail" or the "North-West Mail", home for the...

World Rugby Sevens Caravan coming to Sydney

'Please explain', Hugh, which Rugby 7s team is known as "The Chickens"?! If I turned up wearing an Akubra hat, a checked western shirt, moleskins and Baxter "Drover" boots, would I be ejected for being dressed like a "Cowboy"?!!

    Reds 2016

Do you know if the Reds have appointed a Sports Scientist (aka Biochemist), yet? I hear there's a bloke named Steve who is experienced, and available!

    Reds 2016

Finally, some positive news for Reds supporters, with the prediction yesterday that James Slipper will be returning earlier than originally thought. He is hoping to be back playing in the first half of the Super Rugby season. "I'm training hard and the goal is obviously to come back stronger...

    Richie Mccaw retires

As a mature-aged Rugby supporter, I much prefer the title "Sir Richard", as "ONZ" = Offside New Zealander, and we wouldn't want him to carry that "tag" for the rest of his life, would we?!

    Rio Olympics

For you, maybe wamberal, but for many here Rugby is a lot more than that. Some of us met our wives/partners at a Rugby match, (I did, 45 years ago). Some of us who worked on Saturday mornings, sometimes hired light aircraft to travel up to 200 kms (flight distance), to get us to our matches in...

    Jonah Lomu has Died....

It was sad to see the headline on ABC 24 this morning: "Generous Lomu 'broke' when he died". I guess it says a lot about the guy, that he unselfishly shared his 'rewards' with family and friends. Maybe, much of it was spent on medical bills.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

A great story, beautifully written, Hugh. Thanks for posting it. Whilst reading it, I couldn't help but notice the similarities to the story "The death of a Wallaby, 70 years ago today", that I wrote on July 1, 2012. The comments that I made at the end of my story apply as much to Cecil...

    Reds 2016

The Bank of New South Wales was trading strongly before becoming Westpac, (which when I first heard the name, I had a "what the" moment)! Lucky Goldstar was crap. How many here bought Lucky Goldstar electrical appliances, whereas, I would suggest that many of you have bought an appliance...

    The Wallabies Thread

Some players can "play injured"in a test match, and put in a performance good enough to win them MOTM!

    Reds 2016

Off topic, I know, but, IMO: Best name-change by a Marketing Dept: "Lucky Goldstar" to "LG". Worst name-change by a Marketing Dept: "KooGa" to "BLK"!!

    Pic needs a caption

I hope you buy my new book "Tales Of The Honey Badger"! ("It's going off like a raw prawn")!!

Hah, it's only a flesh wound!!

Eddie Jones Stormers, No, Wait, England coach

I kinda thought you might, Sully!

    Richie Mccaw retires

I'm sure Richie is not lost to the game. He is bound to appear for the "Classic All Blacks" in the future, especially when they play the "Classic Wallabies"!

Eddie Jones Stormers, No, Wait, England coach

Former Wallaby coach, Alan Jones, on radio this morning, speaking about Eddie Jones coaching England: "Eddie Jones! Eddie Jones! The guy's a control-freak. People who worked with him ended up having nervous breakdowns, but I wont say any more about that. He sent the Reds into the pits, winning...

    Jonah Lomu has Died....

The words "legend", "icon", and "star" are handed out by the media to many sportsmen and sportswomen every year. Unlike many of them, Jonah Lomu was the "genuine article". It has been a privilege to have seen him play the game we all love. Our condolences to his family, his friends, and to...

    The Wallabies Thread

I feel that was the understanding of many officials, and fans. At this level, you are soon 'found out' if you are below par. IMO, Izzy was, and had been for some time.

    The Wallabies Thread

I get your point, however, I assume that the final decision is up to the player when asked "are you ok to play"!
