Australia Vs. England, Twickenham, 2nd November 2013

The guide I use when I'm reffing when a player leaps in the air to keep the ball in play is: "Is more than half of his body in touch?" If Yes - He makes the ball dead if he touches the ball beyond the touch line. If No - Play on if he touches the ball beyond the touch line. So if I was...

    JOC (James O'Connor) Gooonne

Good luck to him. Plenty of good players have been to europe and back, some probably benefited from the experience. Or at the end of the day if he just enjoys playing rugby and having fun off the field he might enjoy europe a bit more. Anyway, it was always great to watch him at NiB playing...

    IRB Annual Awards 2013

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

If a player is not deemed in touch when he is holding the ball and his foot is out, that would have some wide reaching consequences. You could try and frame it in a way whereby a player inside the field of play who catches the ball with his foot out is deemed to have taken the ball into touch...

    JOC (James O'Connor) Gooonne

I've heard the media beat this whole thing up so in my opinion he is still a strong chance to end up in WA. The ARU are just annoyed at the attention he has drawn to them, regardless of whether or not it's manufactured. So I imagine the Force deal is still very much on the table. There's a...

    Questions for Link

Good interview, he's pretty up front, always gives us a detailed view. I think some of the questions could be phrased a bit more openly, he picked you guys up on the coaching staff one. Not that it made a big difference, overall the relaxed way it's run is a good way to get some good insights.

    Questions for Link

Why does he insist on driving in a zig zag fashion up the park? Should cameramen be given a raise as a result?

    James O'Connor misses flight

Hopefully he hasn't just been dropped because of speculation. Saying that, it hasn't been his best year in terms of PR, maybe the ARU had some tight rules in place.

    All black tactics

..... And the fat prop said to the scrum half, "oi bru, you stepped on my hand, me and my fully sick boys will block your pass now aye".

Australia vs South Africa - Brisbane 7th Sept 2013

Wallabies played very positive rugby. These losses are part of a bigger plan. I enjoyed the game despite the score. I'm backing them, don't write them off yet.

    Refereeing decisions

IS, in Baldric's scenario, they slide into in goal. If the attacker is trying to score a momentum try, then he is just as much "not releasing" as the tackler. In this hypothetical scenario, a sensible ref would conclude they are both immaterial offences, play on, let them slide into in goal and...

    Refereeing decisions

Edit, Damo beat me. It should also be noted that law 22 states. " A scrum, ruck or maul can take place only in the field of play. As soon as a scrum, ruck or maul is pushed across the goal line, a player may legally ground the ball. This results in a touch down or try." I mention this because...

Cummins to lock, and will get MOM, you heard it here first.

Australia vs South Africa - Brisbane 7th Sept 2013

Re, wingers... It could be as simple as 'most teams kick to the right corner so our best jumper plays 14'. Oh, and btw Welcome back Quade. Good luck bro.

    Refereeing decisions

If the tackled player can score a momentum try, the defenders should have a right to stop it. However, the laws here are not well prepared for this scenario. Technically a non-tackling defender off their feet playing at the ball should be penalized, penalty try is the correct call for a...

    2013 – ITM CUP - NZ's 3rd Tier Competition

Rupini Caucau is playing on the wing for Northland atm, already got 2 tries. The Harbor #9 is top class. Good rugby so far.

    Refereeing decisions

If we want obsessive use of the TMO, Walsh is the man. Give him next year's Bledisloe 1. I reckon he'd nail it. As for bias, he's a kiwi employed by the ARU. Can't get anymore unbiased than that.

    Refereeing decisions

The problem with criticizing him for one particular imperfection in the game, like being inaudible, or not clear at that decision. Is that at the end of the day he is still world class in the area of communication. Bad trends that emerge are what we dont want to see. For example if he was...

New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

ACT, Dan, Damo, etc... Don't bother guys, you don't need to justify yourselves to the test referee experts left in this thread. Those of us without such paranoia towards every referee performance seem to enjoy the rugby much more than those who spend all 80 minutes, and the proceeding week...

New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

This point cannot be made enough. Speculating on what would have happened if a decision went the other way goes against basic logic.
