    Refereeing decisions

If you want to see good rugby spirit, watch Argentina vs .SA. both teams very respectful to the match officials throughout, in what was a very tense game. Some good dialogues caught on the microphone between Walsh and the players as well.

    Western Force 2014

I think they've done well scouting a few saffers looking for a super rugby opportunity. But after watching last night's game, I'm wondering if there's any Argentine players looking for a super rugby spot. We'd be a good fit for them.

New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

Haha, auto correct 1 me 0. Personally I blame Peyper for my loss.

Good, rugby is better off without serial wingers. Maybe lawn bowls is more your sport, less officiating decisions to worry about.

New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

I'm anticipating a few articles critical of the ref during the week. So here's an idea... Count how many 5+ phases each side had uninterrupted by the ref, or the opposition. Then proceed to tell us how the ref ruined any chance of the wallabies scoring. One trend i did notice was NZ seeming...

    Scrum tactics

I'm sure the refs agree the feeds were a bit strict. The half doesn't need to be offside, tackling a man without possession is illegal itself, I'm sure it can be cleaned up as well. I doubt it will make a difference though. In the itm cup the scrums are a much better contest because the semi...

    Scrum tactics

Tonight proves professional props have little interest in keeping scrums up. It couldn't be any simpler, every other grade on the planet has got it right so far.

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

Agreed. Hope they don't end up llike the cricket team, hopelessly changing every week. These are talented players, pick long term selections and give them a tournament to prove themselves.

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

If i can say one positive thing about this thread, i didn't see any irrational outbursts at referees throughout. Hopefully the trend continues.

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

Personally i think the problem is not enough brumbies. Their coaching assistants, physios, waterboys, chefs and drivers are all clearly in form and must be given ARU contracts.

Smith has had his turn. Its about time we back the extremely talented younger 7s who are on their way up.

    Sonny Bill

We've seen this before. The media take it hook line and sinker every time. Or maybe they get a comission to do so.

2013 Super Rugby Final - CHIEFS v BRUMBIES

I think all the irb refs are on the same page here . They are just on different ends of the spectrum. Poite gets a say in at the set piece whenever he can, while Joubert reserves his penalties for scrums that become a mess. And obliviously the context of the game factors into the refs approach...

2013 Super Rugby Final - CHIEFS v BRUMBIES

The point of a scrum is to restart the game. It's not some game within a game whereby players continue scrumiging until a penalty is given. When the brumbies kept the ball at the back of the scrum and it rotated the turnover was a great call. The use it call doesn't apply to the scrum, but...

2013 Super Rugby Final - CHIEFS v BRUMBIES

You can't tackle a player without the ball. Hence why you can't tackle the half until the ball leaves the ruck . (When he picks it up) This doesn't mean the defenders can't contest at a tackle situation. If the half has no support in front of him, then he will get smashed off the ball. I don't...

2013 Super Rugby Semi Final - Bulls vs Brumbies

Brumbies are just playing smarter finals footy, I'm not surprised. However it is interesting to watch. It's not an easy job to do.
