Are we getting a squad today?

We are where we are and changing the coach is not going to help. We have a lot of young talent coming through, particularly at 10, and the future looks pretty good. At times when you are short in a position for any given generation you either hold on to an older player who can still...

Who would be better than DR right now? The weekend was not a good look but Rennie has done a decent job under trying circumstances. Nobody can polish a turd………..well except for Cheika for a couple of months

I dont mean to be hard on him but its just difficult to tell where his ceiling will be. His attitude is great.

    Wallabies 2023

Well then the future for him at 10 looks a little bleak. It’s unlikely that he will get much faster or that his general vision of opportunity will improve dramatically. Those are the areas where he struggles. He has done a very good job after being thrown in the deep end several times against...

That would work and we could have a bigger body in that channel and attempt to play in their quarter.

    Argentina v Australia II @ 5.10am 14/08

And stop trying the miracle offloads. His ball security is terrible. He needs to hold the pill and recycle. Ditto for a few others as well. I see Valetini has adjusted this part of his game. TT, Paisami and Petaia need to do the same.

He needs to pick his moments better. You cannot get isolated in test footy. All opposition players are on you like seagulls on a chip. Hes very good and will only get better.

He is our most successful candidate but it doesn’t solve the issue moving forward. At least we will have Paisami back at 12 you would think which makes playing Hodge or Lolesio more palatable from a creative viewpoint. Should be interesting

You sound like an expert Tom? I would guess that Rennie was not happy with the way Lolesio played in the second two England tests. Who knows why but surely DR does. He strikes me as a level headed coach who has been successful in building a team. He knows the ingredients he needs. I’m also...

    Wallabies 2023

Ideally you have a young 10 coming in off the bench behind an experienced campaigner. All of those 10s you mention came in and played a lot of tests from the bench behind some off the best 10s the game has see. I’m sure Rennie was planning on bringing Lolesio along behind QC (Quade Cooper). Mack Hansen was...

    Wallabies 2023

It is still uncertain if he has the skills and the instinct to be a decent test 10. As you say, he has played 12 tests, some OK and others not, and he does not appear to be progressing. I would guess that DR and the powers that be are seeing the same, hence them continually looking for...

I see Foley getting a run before Beale. With Kellaway returning and Hodge and Petaia in the squad Beale would be 4th choice at best.

    Wallabies 2023

Problem was that we had Foley and Quade and Gits for a bit and no-one else got a look in really. There were not many good options around. Its not as though there are a bunch of top notch test standard 5/8s from Australia aged 20-30 playing in all corners of the world. Somehow we had a generation...

Edmed is probably the most robust of the young ones. He did not go so well for Aus A so maybe he is not effective when the game is played a little quicker. I reckon Foley is worth a look. He has all the skills but a bit of a popcorn boot. You would need Hodge or Kellaway taking the kicks for...

    Wallabies 2023

I just watched Donaldson at 10 v Sydney Uni. His kicking and general play is a step or two below JOC (James O'Connor) I reckon. Edmed is similar and Gordon another step down. Ben Houston looks like one to keep an eye on at 6

I questioned this earlier. Surely rupturing an Achilles after recovering from a calf injury on the same leg means he came back to early. However, he was no doubt guided by the Wallaby medical staff and trainers. It was they who said he was right He does not decide if and when he is ready. No...

Philip and Swain were an excellent combo last week. They really took it to the Argies at the coal face along with AAA, Slipper and FF (Folau Fainga'a).

If anyone can put in the work and get back on the field in quick time its Quade. He has stated it is his goal and he will pursue it doggedly as well as him already being as fit or fitter than most in the squad. I’m confident that he will be an option.
