    Melbourne Rising 2014

I love being good at rugby. All Melbourne fans should get along to see a winning team - I figure we just about deserve it at this point. Did you two hear those two Fijians blokes? 'Melbourneeee!' 'Risinggggggg' Outstanding stuff.

    Rebels 2015

But the Rising don't develop local players!

    JOC (James O'Connor) Gooonne

Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if he hadn't missed almost the entire 2012 season with injury. He had two very good games against the BaaBaas and Wales after Cooper did his knee and there was plenty of chat about whether he should be the flyhalf going forward. Then he...

Stars vs Rising, 31 August at Leichart

No guarantee that we'll beat them, let alone smash them - although I am more confident now that Betham is out. We're going to go round and round on this whole thing with Soup vs local players all year round aren't we? Most, not all granted, of the Rebels players playing for the Rising were...

    National Rugby Championship 2014

Hey kids, just looking for a quick hand for an article I'm putting together for the front page. Looking for a highlight for each team from the first round. Can be a big tackle, an awesome try, anything. If you could give me the rough time it occurred as well that would be tip top, cheers.

    Melbourne Rising 2014

I'll have a go when I get home. Really was pretty awesome.

Smashedd him bro. The gif is too big to link here, can't really be bothered making a smaller one either. But if you wanted to check out Lopeti Timani, Destroyer of Worlds, click here - http://www.gfycat.com/ExemplaryUnderstatedHapuka

    Rebels 2015

You reckon? I'd have to go back and have a look at some tape, but I remember a lot of nonsense kicking and plenty of aimless side to side nothingness. That said, there weren't too many games I watched replays of. Unrelated, do we have room in the squad for a Rising player or two who really shine?

Rising v Rays, 24 August @ AAMI park

Well, yeah. But seriously, his potential is stratospheric. Can see why teams keep giving him a shot. He's just so big, and so fast, and so strong and when he puts it together he breaks people and teams.

Rising v Rays, 24 August @ AAMI park

Nope. He's absolutely dominant when he wants to be. In about one minute he'd blown up a Rays ruck from a kick-off, single-handedly forcing the turnover then a couple of phases later he came flying in from deep, just an enormous carry. Completely blew Luke Holmes up - pretty scary stuff. Holmes...

    Rebels 2015

Hedger was apparently the attack coach last year, and given how absolutely abject we were in that department I'll not be totally devastated if he goes.

    Wallaby Watch 2014

Burgess has been really, truly, awful for the Rebels. I'd have preferred almost anyone to him. He's a bad version of Phipps these days.

Bulls v Rebels, 12 July @ Loftus Versfeld

So I shouldn't get my, ah, friend to download this then? Sounds like a fitting end to a largely miserable season.

Lions V Rebels, 5 July @ Ellis Park

It was one of those times where you had to be at the ground to see how badly out of position he was and how poor his option taking was. Woodward wasn't good, but he was also having to do an obscene amount of work off the ball to cover. Telling that as soon as Debreczeni went off we started to...

Lions V Rebels, 5 July @ Ellis Park

    That is outstanding work, daz.

Lions V Rebels, 5 July @ Ellis Park

Debreczeni was dreadful last week. Completely out of his depth, does have a cannon of a leg though. Surprised he's getting another go.

    Reds 2015

This. Anyone who questions his commitment to training/rugby is absolutely dreaming. He's not a lazy talent, he's a talent with a manic work ethic to back it up. I really, really, hope it works out for both parties. He's too good not to be involved in Australian rugby.

    Wallaby Watch 2014

Same. But still, when was the last time we were able to have a serious chat about the battle for the third LHP position?
  19. Dumbledore

    Wallaby Watch 2014

For all the many and varied faults of the Rebels this year, the scrum has been consistently good to very good. Well on top of the Reds the other night, and it was Smith who was doing the damage. This is the best prop depth we've had for a good long time I reckon.

    Rebels 2015

This is the sort of clear headed and incisive thinking that keeps Marto in the commentary box.
