    Rebel v Tahs, round 15 2014

Weren't allowed to do that against the Reds. It'll be interesting to see if the ref lets it go this week.

    Rebels 2014

Have to understand where most of the rugby commentariat is based in this country though. Plenty of casual Reds fans who aren't happy to see the good times go. That plus a general disrespect for the Rebels, not entirely unfair based on history, leads to this sort of coverage. Look at the Tigers...

    Wallaby Watch 2014

And the Reds scrum was pretty comprehensively beaten yesterday by a pack that will have at best one or two players in the Wallaby squad. Now that's obviously not only on Simmons and Horwill, but if they're going to be praised for when things go well they have to take some stick for when it...

Smith's unlucky in as much as we actually have some pretty good looseheads in Slipper, Sio and Longbottom. I'd definitely have him in the top five props in Australia, but that's as much an indictment of our tightheads as anything else.

    Reds v Rebels, Sat May 17 @ 7:40

It might be shit, but it's part of the gig these days. Referees have a hard enough time of it without team captains sinking the boot in on live television. I feel for Horwill to an extent, but he has to know that you can't be getting around like that

    Reds v Rebels, Sat May 17 @ 7:40

Taking the points was the right move. The Reds hadn't had much trouble moving downfield all night, and Walsh was brutalising the Rebels at the breakdown. There was plenty of time left, going for the corner would have been very, very, low percentage. It didn't work out, but that doesn't mean it...

Not sure I can see Horwill in gold after last night. No matter what you think about the gouge/non-gouge, you just can't go after the ref like that on television. It's not exactly the standard-setting stuff you want from your senior players and team leaders.

    Reds v Rebels, Sat May 17 @ 7:40

Ha, I would to be honest. Neville still isn't there for me. Against the top teams, against genuinely ruthless forward packs, he'd get exposed IMO. Don't think Jones had his best game tonight - but still outplayed Simmons and Horwill. He's done enough to deserve a shot for mine, the question is...

He was everywhere. Just a brilliant linking game - played tight as well, not just hanging out in the centres. Been waiting for this game from the day he signed. Very happy chappy tonight.

    Reds v Rebels, Sat May 17 @ 7:40

I'd agree with that. There are many, many, players who have taken big steps this year - mostly in the forwards as well. McMahon, Colby, Jones, PAE, CAN Horie, Hegarty, Inman etc. etc. have all come on in leaps and bounds. The criticism laid against McGahan from Rebels supporters has been...

In non-ref related stuff, that was, by a distance, the best game Colby has ever played for the Rebels. He was almost as good as his stubble looked.

Never been prouder of the boys. Go Rebels!

    This.

    Rebels 2014

Chin up champ. If he's signed as bench cover, then fair enough. At the moment I'd say he'd be behind Hegarty at 10, Inman at 12 and Woodward at 15. If Barnes is signed, then he's probably even further down the depth chart. Similarly if Ellision and/or Woodward stick around. I just hope if he's...

Harris is blech. He's solid, but he's a nothing player. We can, and should, do better.

    Wallaby Watch 2014

That's a pretty disingenuous argument though, isn't it? You wouldn't be picking Beale because he's the second best 12, you're picking him because he can cover almost every position from 10-15, can kick goals, has a great connection with Fulool, and can shred tired defences. Lilo had half a...

    Wallaby Watch 2014

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) can cover 12 if he has to. Beale's scored match winning tries for us before, he's got a weirdly good mental hook up with Folau and he generally makes shit happen. I know he's burned a lot of people before, but skinny!Beale is a proven matchwinner and too good to not be on the bench.

    Wallaby Watch 2014

I'd absolutely have Beale on the bench. 10 points down with 10 minutes to play? Who would you rather throw on, Beale or Lilo?
