Stats also miss the big plays. Hodgson's snatch, run in traffic and offload for the Force's first try against the Cheetahs turned pressure on the Force into a try. Hodgo does a lot of that kind of thing- throwing himself at the ball on the deck. He's score a few tries too. Stats also don't show Hodgson's contribution as a leader.
That said, Michael Hooper often puts in the big plays. His running game is very strong. I'd still go with Hooper every day of the week, but I wouldn't be sweating if he went down injured in a game.
