    Wallabies 2024

Skelton won me over last year - but I still don’t think he was head and shoulders above the other contenders in terms of form (no - that isn’t supposed to be a bad pun). And Rodda wasn’t available and Swain’s form wasn’t anywhere near as good. Most importantly he isn’t available for the July...

    Round 14 : Reds v Force 24 May (Suncorp)

That would have to be the strongest team the Force have named all year too wouldn’t it?

    Queensland Reds 2024

Ditto what Wilson said. Well done Reds - great announcement.

    Round 13 : Reds v Drua 18 May (Fiji)

No - we can’t. But as weird as it is to say if I had a preference of the teams to play away it is the Chiefs. Still want to go into finals on the back of two wins though and not two losses. The big question will be how drained the team is after Fiji against a pumped up Force.

    Round 13 : Reds v Drua 18 May (Fiji)

Not that I don’t appreciate the humour - fair play, I certainly left myself open - but Vunivalu didn’t lose that for us. He certainly didn’t f@@@ing help - but I wish that loss was as simple as blaming him. It’d make me feel better.

    Round 13 : Reds v Drua 18 May (Fiji)

No player single handedly losses you a game. That’s no different to blaming a kicker who misses a shot on full time.

    Round 13 : Reds v Drua 18 May (Fiji)

Interesting observation Reg. That wasn’t something I’d picked up on. (Not a good omen for the Force game given they always tend to trouble us). I doubt Les is happy to drop any game but the reality is sometimes the coach has to manage workloads. The other thing I always thought Dan McKellar did...

    I’d guess O’Connor at 10

    Round 13 : Reds v Drua 18 May (Fiji)

I guess this is where it gets tough. You have to back your squad and you don’t build depth without giving guys exposure. Plus Flook & Faessler in particular could use a break you’d think. But gee I’d hate to drop this game. I guess if you are going to rest people at all this is probably the...

    Round 13 : Reds v Drua 18 May (Fiji)

Reds are in an interesting spot. In one sense, they are already well ahead of how they performed last year. BUT if they drop a couple of games in the run home that’ll be what is remembered. Plus they have an easier run home than the Chiefs with the Chiefs facing the Canes and the Blues in their...

    Wallabies 2024

Isn’t Potter out injured? When you say Ryan - do you mean Ryan Smith? Or am I have a brain freeze on who Ryan is? Edit: sorry - I’m assuming Tim Ryan. Like the guy who is front and centre at the moment in terms of rugby coverage but who completely slipped my mind. I dunno. Again I just think...

    Wallabies 2024

Sorry - obviously not making my point very well. I am not trying to predict at all what Schmidt is thinking. But there was an earlier question as to what people are mentioning Donaldson when he is 10 for the Force who are near the bottom of the table and I was trying to explain the thinking of...

    Wallabies 2024

Yeah, I dunno. Donaldson has been pretty good most, but not all the year. I won’t object to Lolesio getting another crack but my point about Donaldson (and going back to the original comment about why he is being mentioned) I don’t think anyone is claiming by anyone that he is playing the house...

I feel like he’s starting to get back to his form from 2-3 yrs ago.

    Wallabies 2024

I think the other thing in his favour on here at least is, rightly or wrongly, many on here appear to feel that Lolesio has had has chance and wasn’t up to it. And Carter Gordon has had some spectacular goal misses. I feel for some Donaldson is the Bradbury choice. To be honest, that’s...

    Round 12: Reds v Rebels Fri 12th 7:35PM @ Suncorp

Just looking at some stats from the weekend. According to ESPN, on top of his try scoring, Tim ‘Junkyard Dog’ Ryan made 7 tackles at100% accuracy.

Western Force v Fijian Drua Saturday 11 May, 7:55pm WST

That wasn’t my impression BR but I’ll leave it at that given this is the Force v Drua game thread.

Because the Force are running third last mainly because of the forwards. And none of the other 10s are convincingly better. Put it this way, if Angus Bell was fit the Tahs would still be last or close to last on the table and he’d still be picked because he’s the best player in his position.

Western Force v Fijian Drua Saturday 11 May, 7:55pm WST

Prior to injuries I always thought Rodda was a class above all the other locks except Rory Arnold (who, for whatever reason, struggled to take his super form to test level consistently). My only criticism of him was I thought his clean out work needed to improve and he was a workhorse rather...

Good to se Harry Hoopert back on the field after such a rotten time with injury.
