All good points Mauler. Problem is if we don’t change we stay the same and the problems brought up here on the forum will eventually develop. If not changing anything is preferable to the clubs then we’ll just live with what eventuates.

    Southern Inland Rugby 2023

History in SIRU has been, Folkus, that team numbers get less during the season not more. So if a club like Reddies are struggling for a 2nds team at the beginning of the year, that team will forfeit a lot games during the year and/or be a constant drain on 1st grade. Remember at the end of last...

I think the way the season is shaping up Reasoning is that we would be better off having 3 draws. 1 for 1sts & 2nds another for 3rds and another for Womens. Try and get each team in the various competitions to have a game each week even if it means travelling separately.

Is one of the real problems facing rugby everywhere (Australia) the lack of opportunities to play rugby ages 17-20?

Rugby in Leeton is certainly struggling at a senior level. Are they going OK at a junior level? The kids are the future.

This is where Deni may have have an advantage in having only 1 team. Only 1 team to find no.s for. No need for players to fill in for 2nds. Any news on how Deni is progressing?

This is where Bulls, Steamers and Reddies have been disadvantaged in the past Bubba - as the season rolls on travel no.s decrease and some of 1sts have to fill in 2nds. That unfortunately then impacts your away season points. So if Bulls and Steamers have good no.s things maybe different this...

    Taking over from Sportsbet here. $2.50 City / $4.00 Blacks / $6.00 Waratahs / $7.00 Aggies / $10.00 Deni / $12.00 Steamers / $15.00 Bulls / $30 Reddies. Maybe City a bit long and Blacks a bit short?

Im like Folkus in that Ive only just now seen the cancellation. It wasn’t until I had looked at some FB pages that I saw the change of venue.

Everything went to plan Reasoning. Great atmosphere. Must say the Brumbies seem like a good group to work with. They also came to a school where I work and were excellent with the kids as well(James Slipper among the players). Even Eddie turned up to have a look at the game on Saturday. From...

Over past times members have played 2 and sometimes 3 games on a Saturday to keep a club going through tough times. Given duty of care Folkus what should the limit of playing be? On another note the field hosting the Super Rugby game on Feb 4 is hosting cricket games this weekend. I’m amazed a...

    Southern Inland Rugby 2023

Sounds like SIRU did a great job with the composition of teams and the draw. Things were done top down and as Mauler said 3rd grade falls where it falls. Deni/Leeton a gamble but should be fine from all reports. Tumut/Hay will be all good. Surely though the 3rd grade draw will be re-done. As...

3rds comp City, Aggies, Griffith and Barbarians Wagga team made from Tahs, Reddies & leftover from the other 2 Wagga clubs. Hay back to 2nds.

Re the Brumbies v Waratahs game in Griffith. Cricket in Griffith is centred around the Exies Sports Club. Feb 4 is half way through the summer season for that sport. In terms of getting the ground ready (before and after) I’m sure cricket in this community will be substantially interrupted by...

The SIRU board can only operate on information available. Devil’s advocate. 2nd half of the season. Question marks? Both Leeton teams. Phantoms and Dianas. Deniliquin. Reddies 2nds and 3rds. Albury 2nds and 3rds. Waratahs 3rds. Tumult 2nds. Hay were pretty dominant in 2nds last year. Will they...

Thanks Rep. Wow it will be good for the comp. We have trouble here at Griffith with shift work on Saturdays so I hope that doesn’t impact their no.s during the season.

So Deni is moving from having no involvement last year (I think I’m right in saying that) to having a 1st grade team next year. I’m out of the loop. How is that possible? I mean how have they attained the quantity and quality of players. Just thinking of the draw - do they have 2nds and/or Womens?

    Southern Inland Rugby 2022

I think everyone realises we have to take a different path with the draw next year Folkus. Somehow it has to be done from the top down. We can’t have the bye-athon in 1st grade like we did this year (as your research showed). Of the 1st grade clubs only Aggies, City, Griffith & Waratahs can...

    Southern Inland Rugby 2022

Mens 7 1st grade teams = 3 games + bye. Each weekend. Ladies (possible) 7 teams = 3 games + bye. Each weekend. Ladies draw to fit into Mens 1st grade draw. Starting point. Then do the rest of the draw. Teams like Leeton, Deni and Hay who will be playing 2nd grade have to fit into the Mens 1st...
