    Southern Inland Rugby 2020

I think we all concede that rugby in Australia at national/state/community levels is at a very low point. Now that there is a long pause in the game isn’t it an excellent opportunity to get off the train going to nowhere. Most people are keen to blame Raelene-Castle. Not fair. We were travelling...

I’d be shocked if Siru played rugby this year. Politicians, medical people all saying the situation we’re in will exist for the next 6 months. Rugby Australia should be honest. Community rugby should start planning for 2021. Speaking of RA, looks like Ms Castle might be working from home in a...

It’s good thing re ref pay. Need to do something. The whole media issue Athol re DA is pretty well explained by Mauler’s post on the subject. I just think Siru & the clubs have to get together to work out a way of maintaining the public’s interest in our sport. ie game reports, happenings at...

Interesting & impressive research Mauler. Can you present some idea or ideas of a way of bringing it up to scratch.

Siru as a zone has a lack of media representation. We are aware of the lack of coverage provided by the DA. Should something like a new Facebook page be initiated (not run by Siru itself ) to provide club news, comment on games, opinions, results, predictions etc.

Leeton attempted to field a 2nd grade last season Reasoning but it didn’t work. A 3rd grade might attract a new demographic to the club. The problem with our rep set up Athol is that we are with the Brumbies. Outside of Canberra itself Siru doesn’t have any real worthwhile competition. The...

You’re new to this zone I believe Athol. Rep is the elephant in the room in SIRU.

The inclusion of Hay. 3rd in 3rds last season equates to a very long season in 1st grade this year.

I have noticed in past years Reasoning that Hay sporting clubs have supported each other with players. The problem they may find in 2020 is that Hay Magpies Rugby League play 10 of their 16 rounds on Saturdays. I think their AFL comp is played on Saturday as well. As you say Reasoning good luck...

Well done Steamers for hosting such an event and also supporting the bushfire situation. When you say a lordly presence Kartman I’ll hazard a guess and say you guys might have invited Pastor Izzy along to your Thursday coaching session.

I watched a lot of games last year ( live and live-streamed ) and they were all expertly and fairly officiated. That’s all we can ask for. How a club fills it’s roster is it’s own business. Outside of past and present players Waratahs could probably hold a fan club meeting in a phone booth. But...

I suggest Siru get someone to do a newspaper style report on their Facebook page each week about the previous weekend’s games. Clubs would have to help by providing information etc. The DA hasn’t been interested in us for years, Reasoning. Given our shortage of match officials the Waratahs club...

Grenfell, West Wyalong, Cootamundra, Temora and Young left SIRU. They didn’t leave the Brumbies.

It seems the new South West division of Central West has been a success. I think 4 or 5 previous clubs from SIRU. 8 team competition within an OK travelling distance for the clubs involved. Smaller towns/one team clubs. I know a lot of clubs from smaller towns like ( or at least don’t mind )...

Playing a high school rugby competition final on an unmarked field resembling a brown paddock leaving spectators and players feeling they deserved better. In a regional city. Bubba?

The school market is hard. Soccer is always popular with parents because of its lack of contact nature. In government schools league sort of has an established position. AFL and rugby union are competing for available space left in sports time in NSW schools. We saw the Wagga high schools rugby...

It’s a shame the schoolboys final was played on a substandard field. Usually the surface at Connolly is very good. I can see where Whistle is coming from Kartman. Because of work commitments and injuries Hay really struggled for numbers in their semi final appearance the day they played Deni...

Was this schoolboys final held at Connolly Whistle, or one of the other grounds in Wagga?

Agree Mauler CSU did improve this year but they were still a long way off the pace. Coach Hood is a great person to have try and get Reddies more competitive but think they might not make 2020 without some sort of helping hand.
