Can come in to replace Finau in the squad when he cops a 6 week ban. Perfect replacement ;)

And Annan and Aubrey. Arguably McLaughlin-Phillips too.

The guys hanging around playing club footy won't be doing it to collect a cheque, they'll be doing it while working out a contract overseas - if they sign to a super rugby squad their new contract gets locked in and they can't just bail when they get something better anymore. Possibly a few...

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

I think the go is probably Allan and Tupou for the first test, but I won't be amazed if they go with Nonggorr on the bench instead, particularly if they want to give Tupou a kick up the arse or they have been working him harder to improve that fitness. Injury permitting I expect it'll be...

I have a feeling we might lose Ravai as an off contract foreign prop, but they maybe able to sort out a one year contract to ease the transition even if we are getting Kailea. Big question might be how long Ravai feels he has left in his career and where he wants to retire. Bridal still has a...

It's very loose and has generally existed to try and stop clubs overspending rather than spread talent. I don't remember it ever being enforced, at least not in any real way. There are also already a bunch of exceptions for Wallabies and long standing talent so it's not difficult for them to...

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

With the others in the back 3 that's honestly not too big a deal, the problem with Pietsch is his finishing (and some of his decision making near the line in general) isn't up to standard. Can't be wasting chances at test level. He is otherwise a good footballer and it is a coachable skill, so...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Big part of the difference is likely that that graph is "watch any FTA". I'd wager amount watched per person (who do watch FTA) is well down for the younger age group as well as less of them watching it.

Will depend a bit on competition structure next year, but a home final should be the target, so probably top 3. Still a fair few signings/re-signings to go, but I'd be surprised (and disappointed) if next years squad doesn't end up markedly stronger than this years.

A change of tune about what it looks like from RA and McLennan being moved on may well have helped. Hard to know without any detail.

Definitely the wrong reasons, but my point was that the facility already exists in the current setup and doesn't require further centralization. The reasons are always going to be up to the current administration (I'm sure Cheika might have argued that playmaking spots were too important to give...

    Australian Rugby / RA

RA already has approval over all super rugby contracts and have rejected foreign contracts in the past on the grounds of "national interest" - in 2019 the Reds were blocked from signing Alivereti Veitokani and the Rebels from bringing back Frank Lomani because Cheika didn't want a direct rivals...

    Australian Rugby / RA

There's a balance to be struck here. The number of foreign placings will almost certainly be reduced across the board (I'm pretty sure it was when the Force were cut), but having 1 or 3 spaces still available per team gives those teams a lot more freedom and negotiating power when building...

I think that's the limit for the Reds, Brumbies and tahs, the Force (and previously the Rebels) have a larger allowance.

Good to see Canham has signed on for 2 years here, not just the one year remaining on his existing contract. Does indicate he's keen to be at the Reds, rather than it just being his best option for seeing out that contract.

I expect the tahs will chase Cormac Daly now. Not exactly at the level of the others but a solid lock and one they probably should've signed last year when he was at Randwick

He does have some connections in Perth as I understand it, but the reporting does make it seem like his preference is far and away to return to Queensland.

I'd definitely have Brial over Anderson. They may want to play someone like Riori in the backrow to get a bit more size in though.
