    Qld Premier Rugby 2024

How many of their super players have they regularly had this season? Faessler, Smith, McReight, Wilson, Flook and O'Connor all wouldn't have been sighted and Creighton, Ryan would've been with the Reds more often than not. Yet Brothers are almost 10 points clear at the top of the table with a...

Wouldn't be a great move for him or the Wallabies but it might happen given the Tahs list. I did think they were looking at Sua'ali'i there long term, if that's the case it might be a waste running Kellaway at 13. I'd argue Pietsch might be better suited to the shift from the Tahs list, it also...

On the face of it it sounds better than what was happening during the Cheika and even Rennie eras where there was often complaints about less detailed feedback that basically just work on your footwork or passing. Very early days still, but positive signs.

I really appreciated the fact that it sounds like Schmidt didn't just have a conversation but went in with some prepared analysis for him, focusing on what he was doing right as much as what he needs to do going forward.

    Queensland Reds 2025

It's a pity, because up until the Blues game it was probably his best season and he finally looked like he was getting it. Then that Drua game might have broken him, certainly it makes it very hard to back him again and that can't be good for the confidence. Depending on who comes in from the...

Great to hear Schmidt is in contact with the players outside the squad and working with them: https://www.theroar.com.au/2024/06/27/joe-schmidts-one-on-one-with-junkyard-dog-that-should-get-wallabies-fans-excited-about-new-era/ Worlds apart from Eddie's approach.

Some would definitely still take him in the NRL, I can't see them caring too much about the defensive issues he's had in union, but his earning potential is almost certainly higher in Japan where he can dominate in the wide channels.

I don't think it's either or, the reporting is just all about Nawaqanitawase because he's the headline name. As far as I'm aware Toole's inclusion was pretty much locked in before this camp, given his pace and history in the game.

There does appear to be some flex in this now though - Hanigan is apparently only contracted until June 30 and is off the books and free to head to France after that. Might be due to his mid season return from Japan when this contract started, not sure how common it is otherwise.

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

It's at least a positive that there have only been a few go so far, at least suggests that most of them are open to staying. I hope RA is smart and flexible enough to get creative with salary cap, squad sizes and sevens to hang onto as many as possible.

The have a very similar governance structure to New Zealand and would have to convince the "grassroots" clubs to give up power - just look at how trying to take it off the provincial unions in NZ has gone.

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

I'm expecting Smith to head straight to the tahs, particularly with Raiwalui now there. Gives them the opportunity to really lean on big, power second rowers having him and Amatosero. The rumour around Leota seems to be Queensland, though I don't see where he fits in, particularly if...

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

De Lutiis and Kailea play on opposite sides of the scrum, his presence (along with Nonggorr's) would be more likely to be a positive, as an opportunity to build a partnerships that could be repeated at wallabies level for a long time. He has also been playing at UQ for a few years now alongside...

That June 30 deadline is for transfers within the NRL. It's being reported as a blocker but it hasn't really been tested yet in a situation like this. There's every chance the roosters (and titans for Gordon) will still try for an early release afterwards, particularly because the focus is more...

Only half of that, but it would still be pretty worthwhile for both the Reds and RA to get him off the books.

Not too surprising, he's been through the wringer the last couple of years. Would definitely prompt me to reconsider if the career was worth it.

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

Not so much as saying, but repeating what I've heard from multiple journalists - both Doran and Atkinson I think on their respective podcasts. It's certainly not uncommon to hold of on announce signings and re-signings for a variety of reasons. Potentially a guy like Tualima who is off contract...

Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

Most of the reporting on the Brumbies is that they've already filled their squad for next season, maybe only a space or 2 free. There has been talks of Tualima and Feliuai heading there but no one really beyond that.

Real implications for the URC - as much as the fans seem to love it the Welsh sides don't look anywhere near competitive and are in dire straits financially. They must be getting closer and closer to bailing and ending up in the prem, or some sort of new anglo-welsh equivalent. Not sure the prem...
