    Rebels 2013

Who'd have thought that it would be the Rebels deciding if they do or don't want to keep the Wallaby 10?
  2. James Buchanan

    Rebels 2014

That would be the first I've heard of it. There's been some speculation that he might be a good player to recruit but nothing coming from the official or pseudo-official channels. I thought Turner wanted to stay at the Tahs myself.

    Rebels 2014

I think Sidey has done enough this year to justify a continued contract. We'll have to see how he goes next year as things progress internally at the Rebels.

    Rebels 2013

To be fair, I think both the Reds and Force are still viable options. While there is some bad blood present, these are professional teams and he would offer something to both of them.

Well, obviously not KB (Kurtley Beale) and JOC (James O'Connor) :D

    Rebels v Waratahs, rd15 SR2013

Its probably a sensible move, given the Rebels injury situation. Means that they are not relying on Hegarty to play out 80 if he struggles at all in what would be a pretty high pressure and physical game and can replace him with an experienced head. If Hegarty copes then they don't have to use...

I certainly wouldn't complain about that coaching team, if that is who we ended up with.

    REBELS v STORMERS RD 14

Yeah, Angus Roberts. Unfairly I think. In the situation he played in (on tour in South Africa, team in shambles), it is very unlikely that any young player would have performed well. Unlike Hegarty who has been behind a pack which has been growing in confidence and effectiveness. I am pretty...

    REBELS v STORMERS RD 14

There hasn't been much information. I believe he had some sort of minor surgery done on the shoulder although that's based on one report from somewhere I can't remember. I'm not convinced they'll be rushing him back because of the seeming jubilation over Hegarty (the 10 vs the stormers). My take...

My friends and I are often at Beer Deluxe before of after the game, I'll keep an eye out for you.

    REBELS v STORMERS RD 14

I've heard the "TMO not being able to rule on the knock on because Phipps didn't ground the ball" interpretation from a couple of sources and it does make some sense as it creates a point of difference between the incident and Anscombe's. Its a technical minutiae, but unfortunately the refs can...

Waratahs vs Brumbies RD 14 Saturday 18th May

Ged has played for the Junior All Blacks. Given that is NZ B so to speak, he is 'capped' for international duties. Hence why I used the the word as such. He's never played for the All Blacks, but he can never play for the Wallabies.

Waratahs vs Brumbies RD 14 Saturday 18th May

Ged is not eligible for the Wallabies having being 'capped' for NZ. As others have mentioned, for the Wallabies I'd probably favour Hanson for the game he provides, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Saia. Reports are that G. Smith is out for 6-8.

    Rebels 2014

I agree that Woodward is probably a superior 15, mostly for his running game. But I do not necessarily agree that you could pigeonhole Roberts as one also. I missed the South African games, so I am not up to speed to why so many people are against him but I'm trying to get my hands on them to...

    Rebels 2014

Should this speculation re: Foley turn out to have any legs, I would be curious to see how Roberts goes at 12. He's already got familiarity with Foley from Uni and he's not small. He'd probably need to put in a pretty big pre-season to add some beef, if he can. But, it would provide some...

    Rebels 2014

Can't say I disagree with the idea. Not entirely sold on Hegarty yet but I agree he has potential. It certainly is interesting speculation but combined with his ability to somehow uncover Australian born props playing overseas who are willing to come to the Rebels I am very impressed so far.

    Rebels 2014

I was just thinking that it would mark a drastically different direction in recruiting, heading away from superstars to a more team driven approach. I think you are right that if the Tahs keep Folau, then they really only have room for one of KB (Kurtley Beale) and Foley as both command/deserve starting...

    Rebels 2014

Well. That is interesting. It raises some implications re: KB (Kurtley Beale). Possibly also JOC (James O'Connor) and perhaps the development kids. The Sydney Uni mafia strikes again perhaps? I'll give credit where credit is due. blues recovery is usually very well informed as far as Rebels player movements are concerned.

    Rebels 2014

I suspect the likelihood of snaring Foley is between zero and none.

I can't really fault that team list. Although, I can't really see the selectors going for that many rookies.
