  1. James Buchanan

    Rebels v Highlanders Rd 20

Of course, the Highlanders didn't score a try all second half. There is of course a combination of factors. The Rebels stopped turning over possession, the forwards started making metres, Aaron Smith went off. Simply put though, the Rebels won on the back of a dominant forwards performance...

    Rebels v Highlanders Rd 20

Without Luke Jones 14-34 With Luke Jones 24-3 What does this prove? About as little as the JOC (James O'Connor) inference.
  3. James Buchanan

    Rebels 2014

I think he'd have to be weighing up the lure of OS money too, given that he is not currently on the Wallaby radar, so to speak.
  4. James Buchanan

    Rebels v Highlanders Rd 20

I'll wait until I see the replay before I make a definitive comment on JOC (James O'Connor)'s performance. I would note that his arrival also coincided with the Rebels forwards gaining dominance and getting over the gain line. Its much easier for a back to look good in those circumstances. Jones was far and...
  5. James Buchanan

    Waratahs 2014

As far as I understand it, he wouldn't even need to be an international marquee if he satisfies the residence requirement and hasn't yet played for the All Blacks or the Junior All Blacks. However, the ARU probably wouldn't cough up any coin to see him come over if he wasn't interested in...

    Thoughts on Folau to rugby

Eh. If he does that, he does that. And we get his services for a Rugby Championship. If he can manage the form he had against the Lions when he faces the All Blacks, he will have been be a fantastic investment even if he does go back to League. Ultimately, he'll stay if he wants to and goes if...

    Rebels 2014

Well, McGahan is is more of a defence coach and will probably have his own systems to put into place. Hopefully the Rebels have lined up a suitable attack coach to pair with him, Louden would be a good selection.

    Ewen McKenzie: Wallaby Coach

This statement makes me think that your glasses might be a tad rose coloured.

    Brumbies 2014

Pretty sure he did his ACL didn't he? That normally takes about a year to get back up and running again.
  10. James Buchanan

    Rebels 2013

Its very interesting how this season has changed the perspective of many regarding the backline. With the 'emergence' of Lealiifano, To'omua, Mogg, Godwin, Foley and Folau amongst others, I think it is fair to say that the Wallabies are no longer nearly as reliant on the three amigos as they...

    Brumbies 2014

Any word on where he is going?
  12. James Buchanan

    Rebels 2014

Frankly yeah, I would have preferred Louden. It seems blues recovery was on the money about it being one of two Macs given the timing of this and the Link announcement. There is too much bad noise about this bloke to make me overjoyed about the appointment.

Wallabies - a changing of the guard

Alternatively, you could move him into 10 if you want him there for his kicking. He supposedly goes okay there.

Wallabies - a changing of the guard

Now that is a loaded comment :) I'm also of the opinion that To'omua has the most complete skillset of the Australian 10s despite QC (Quade Cooper)'s improvements.
  15. James Buchanan

    Rebels 2014

Odd, the article isn't showing on the main index yet. The speculation about McGahan has been building for a while. Its kind of why I want White to get the Wallabies gig and McKenzie to come to Melbourne.
  16. James Buchanan

    Rebels 2014

    Link? I don't see anything.
  17. James Buchanan

    Rebels 2014

You have to wonder if that changed post second incident though. That's when a lot of the very confident noise about KB (Kurtley Beale) going back to Sydney really started up.
  18. James Buchanan

    Rebels 2014

I think that's absolutely the case. That is what makes this pre-emptive move on JOC (James O'Connor) and the silence regarding KB (Kurtley Beale) so interesting.
  19. James Buchanan

    Waratahs 2014

Alternatively, it is pretty clear that B. Foley was willing to play down in Melbourne before the ARU intervention.
  20. James Buchanan

    Rebels 2014

I find it interesting that this is coming out at this time and no word is being heard about KB (Kurtley Beale). While I am largely resigned to losing KB (Kurtley Beale) at season's end, you have to wonder if the Rebels aren't trying to persuade him otherwise?
