Yeah, but from where? We tried to get Foley but that was shut down. Every other established 5/8th has been locked in by the other super franchises. Its not like either are a huge risk either, we're not talking about kids fresh out of school here. They've both performed at a high level in the...

    Rebels 2014

Other than the argument of "its easier to look good behind a better forward pack" one must also consider that Horwitz probably has more upside to him at this point. That is not taking anything away from Saifoloi and in some ways it wouldn't be a bad move for the Rebels to sign both of them. It...

    Rebels 2014

I'm pretty sure every super club has local players training with the squad in some manner. The Rebels have done so since year 1.

Sometimes I wonder how many of those style of articles come out of journos reading sites like this one. If its true, fantastic work by Cordingly (again). Perfect investment for the club.

I think even Beale goes, Horwitz will be second fiddle to Foley for a while. The Tahs have shown their hand by how much they fought to retain him. Perhaps that's what irks me about this, that they screwed with the Rebels attempts to recruit a player and now people suggest they should also retain...

    Rebels 2014

Its pretty funny reading some of the Tah fans in this thread coming up with excuses for why he should stay. Its all a bit rich as a Rebels supporter when you hear a team saying "Oh yeah, we want to keep Foley and Folau, get Beale back and have all the best young talent stay just in case". It...

I think most people would acknowledge that ball handling is not Timani's strongest attribute.

    Rebels 2014

Its possible that his situation has changed now that he is a recognised Wallaby and not just a fringe player who might never make it.

I agree with the sentiment of developing young players. You only have to look at the Brumbies to see how that has worked out. They might not end up as talented, although Cordingly appears to have a good eye, but they will value the opportunity that you have given them.

And that didn't even show all the tight stuff he added to his game this year.

It would be a true testament to the professional nature of the game if Coleman (a ACT boy) ended up playing for Melbourne while Lealiiafano (a Melbourne boy) is playing for the ACT.

Given that he scored the last two tries, I think it would have been difficult for us to win it without him staying on ;)

Mogg and Cummins are fairly high profile to me. Both have looked very good playing for the Wallabies, I don't know how much higher profile you can get than that.

Well, conveniently in Victoria they are called Intervention Orders, so you get the best of both worlds!

Apparently Growden had heard more, take that for what you will. http://www.espnscrum.com/lions-tour-2013/rugby/story/187779.html

    Rebels 2013

Thinking about it, this is the crux of the matter. Moses is unhappy because the Rebels have hamstrung his ability to use them to leverage the Tahs into giving Beale a bigger contract. Only, if Beale had no intention of ever signing with the Rebels, why should the the Rebels assist him in...

    Waratahs 2014

There's nothing wrong with getting former league U20s or players early in their career (say pre-23). Its when you attempt to recruit the 25+ y/o players for media purposes that things start going awry.

I am curious where they'd want to play him. Backrow looks likely but many of the reports suggest he's quite quick. Maybe Chieka wants his own version of Jamie Roberts?

    Rebels v Highlanders Rd 20

Having now seen the replay, I will admit that JOC (James O'Connor)'s game was better than I was giving him credit for. I still maintain that it was the forwards that won the game and I noted that Sharpey agreed with me during the broadcast. All the creativity and exploitation of space in the world means...

    Rebels v Highlanders Rd 20

Jordy came on much earlier so doesn't look as special. Without Jordy 7-17 With Jordy 31-20 That's probably because Saffy has been playing very well recently. Given that his contractual situation is up in the air currently, there's probably every chance we'll see a Pyle, Neville, Jones...
