Waratahs vs Brumbies RD 14 Saturday 18th May

I was under the impression that the Force had only beaten the Reds and the Crusaders thus far this year and the Highlanders only recently just notched up their first win against the Sharks?

    REBELS v STORMERS RD 14

I think he still makes a valid point. Sometimes I think we get too caught up in the spectacle of dazzling backline moves that we tend to forget the old axiom that "forwards determine who wins, backs determine by how much". If one halfback is helping the forwards go forward and set a good...

And a hooker. Assuming that Ged is no longer available due to overseas player restrictions, we're a hooker away from a bloody fine forward pack.

    REBELS v STORMERS RD 14

I can't help but agree. There's a lot of reports about the closeness of the players and you have to think it shows, particularly those individuals who have come down to take opportunities which weren't available elsewhere. In that I would like to think it is a little bit like the early days of...

    REBELS v STORMERS RD 14

Sidey would have to feel pretty hard done by to get dropped after that game. He didn't do much wrong from what I saw and did a fair bit in defence. I certainly think he deserves his position more than Vuna currently who has been lacklustre for mine other than the occasional attacking raid which...

    REBELS v STORMERS RD 14

I agree that Bryce needs more time. He did do well for what could reasonably be expected of him. His kicking was pretty bad, I didn't see any real long passing from him, and his decision making wasn't as fast as it could have been. But all of those will come with some more time and development i...

We must have been watching different games. At the ground Hegarty looked out of his depth with terrible tactical kicking and mostly just shuffle on passes. It was good to get a win but in all reality it was despite of Hegarty and in majority due to the forwards and goal line defense.

    Super "B" Rugby; Australia's likely 3rd Tier

Inner eastern suburbs private school kids (aka Melbourne Unicorns and to some extent Harlequins and University) vs non inner eastern suburbs private school kids, particularly those of New Zealand and Islander backgrounds.

    Super "B" Rugby; Australia's likely 3rd Tier

I wholeheartedly support this notion. Even if it's the previously mentioned 15k a year for the kids, it would offer them a genuine pathway and some financial reward to incentivise following it.

Not entirely. Younger players do have more physical development in them and hence more upside in that regard, if they are a developing player. Further, younger minds are more pliable and adaptable, which means they are less set in certain modes of thinking and can be coached out of bad habits...

I'm not with you on Christie. His age counts against him in my mind. I have a lot more time for Roberts than many on this forum. I think he has some real potential but is simply raw at the moment and was thrust into a tough situation too soon. He will (and hopefully has) learn(ed) from the...

The Force & Rebels - So close, yet so far?

While he is not universally liked, I thought I saw some of this element in Angus Roberts. The kid was probably thrown into the deep end a little too fast on the tour to South Africa and could have done with more time getting used to the speed and intensity of Super Rugby at 15 before being...

    Rebels 2014

I think the coaching element is an important one. The scrum is an obvious weakness of the Rebels and I hope that they are looking into getting their hands on an improved scrum coach for the team. It's a bit of a left field suggestion but do you think there's any chance that Somerville would be...

    Rebels 2013

To be fair, that has worked out quite well with Tom English. He's taken his opportunities this year.

    Rebels 2014

I'd love to see KB (Kurtley Beale) stay as this experience could be the making of him. But, if he goes he goes. Alternatively, the news about Horne seems less solid than the word on Jones and I wouldn't say no to having him down in Melbourne if the Tahs do find that they cannot afford him. He'd certainly slot...

    Rebels 2013

I was thinking that we were recruiting/promoting more than we were losing, but then I had a look at it and we really aren't. Currently we've recruited Lopeti and are promoting Reid. We are definitely losing Delve and as I understand it Davidson. So currently we're retaining the same number of...

Saw this in the Tahs '14 thread, they're more concerned about Horne, but its big news for us. Big sigh of relief!

He's played mostly on the Wing for us so far.
