Force vs B&I Lions - Wed. 5 Jun

Force may well be cellar dwellers in an 18 round comp, but they are capable of beating some of the best teams in rep rugby on their day, and that means they had a shot at glory v Lions. Foley is hedging his bets. Not good in team sport built on confidence.

    Waratahs 2014

Have to say I really liked Matt Rogers, never lost his head, tough player. Folau is a treat to watch, certainly the closest it seems to me to Lomu for impact and star power and like Lomu a lovely bloke - when you aren't defending against him that is.

    Thoughts on Folau to rugby

IIRC Robbie Deans lured him to the darkside.

Why is Marto employed as a commentator?

I agree HWC, lots and lots. Not sure my better half would, she arcs up over Georgina Robinson!

    Waratahs 2014

Well that is a fascinating development. Tahs fans to become (slightly) more indulgent of RD, Reds fans will hate him more rabidly than ever, now all that is required is Nasser saying Quade might have to go to league if RD doesn't go and we can have a whole new round of forum fun.

    Brumbies v Rebels RD17

Big game for the Rebels. Within sight of coming out of the season pumped for 2014, a win away, and redemption for earlier losses. Need to see more steel from them. A win is up for grabs, but blink and they could get walloped. So don't bloody blink boys.

    Wallabies 31 Man Squad

To be clear by 'that many, huh?' I was making the sardonic observation that many people on the board think they could do better than RD. As I said lost in translation but at least I got a smile out of it, and hopefully a few others too, haters and apologists alike.

USA: my response was just some humour in response to which I assumed was your response to Bullrush's q lost in translation now I expect!

Force vs B&I Lions - Wed. 5 Jun

I sure hope this rumoured preference to field a strong soup team are false. A great game vs Lions, win lose or draw, would do 100x more for WA rugby than a dead rubber Super Rugby game. I'll be astonished and seriously disappointed if the Rebs see it that way.

    USARugger: That many, huh?

Yeah fair point PP, I haven't seen their percentages. But I'd like to see the BIL 10s in game kicking data, it isn't just conversions and penalties, it's accurate and reliable kicking in game. Some players we don't particularly rate here are very good at it and can choke you out.

Funny isn't it, when I see Farrell I see a player I don't want to see on the park. An accurate kicker who plays a game that doesn't suit us.

    Wallabies 31 Man Squad

Well USA as it happens I was at Visy Park today. I am not going to disclose any state sekrits from my beloved team but I will say I may have heard the yell 'Burgo' a time or two. PS what a great way to spend a quiet afternoon, if you haven't checked out your team training I really recommend...

RH cotton wool training leaps to mind. And who'd blame him. Coming back to the lock chat, I am far far from sold on Simmons. So many bad memories of him being a lost sheep at test level. Yes he is playing better at Soup level, but he is far short of selling me. I guess he is another case of...

    Rebels 2013

I'm not as much of a critic of Phipps as many here, I've been very happy with his general play and urgency. His passes are still erratic, but to my eye the error rate has dropped some. Honestly think he has been an important part of the Rebels standard in recent games. Stirzaker I rate very...

    New Zealand Rugby Team Watch

As I recall Nonu was a pretty average passer for a while, it was his marauding runs that made him a selection early years, then became the complete package. I'd think Ranger would be an ideal sub in, but interesting times when Conrad's clock is ticking. Could see a reversal to a more...

    Wallabies 31 Man Squad

Just to think laterally about things, Phipps is probably the closest we have to Phillips. Kinda handy in training. Struggling otherwise but I assume Phipps was well received in camp last year and maybe Deans wants a 9 on hand who has a different playstyle to Genia when Genia goes into his...

All Black squad to play France.

Not sure the Kiwis have ever purely selected on form Gnostic. Dagg, A Smith and Nonu are all very light for form. Hore dubious but probably a pass, Mealamu hasn't played much. Perenara is in great form. It seems to me the ABs have always sought out players who step up in the big games...

    Thoughts on Folau to rugby

Not sure it is fair to suggest Folau doesn't respect the jersey and what it means if he leaves next year. The guy seems to be all class to me and that is more than can be said for a few of the high profile players we have. If he decides to go to League I'll be disappointed, but I respect his...
