The Lions are looking to make the same impact as the Germans did in Poland to kick off WW2. They are going to hit the ground hard and put in a big effort, dominate from the start of their tour. It would be a shame for the Force to just capitulate. Go hard Force, you have an opportunity to write some great history.

I sure hope this rumoured preference to field a strong soup team are false. A great game vs Lions, win lose or draw, would do 100x more for WA rugby than a dead rubber Super Rugby game.

I'll be astonished and seriously disappointed if the Rebs see it that way.

I disagree. Super rugby competition is a proper competition game, the Lions match is an exhibition, play your best side against the Tahs.

Word from the open training today is that a b team will take on the lions with only a handfull of players playing in both games.

So a make shift team on wends and the main team against the tahs.

Hugh Roach and Corey Brown and a couple others have been brought in.

i think that this is the right thing to do many dont but the lions is for show the tahs for points simple choice even if it doesnt make a massive difference on the ladder.

well by the same logic then then the Wallabies v Lions game is just an exhibition. NO comp points on offer....so why bother. Play a second string team and hold back for the Rugby Championship against the AB's.....far more important. These games don't come round often. Make the most of it! Don't roll over like some $10 hooker and get pumped!

Any idea on the team yet Force fans??

It's not going to be the A-team. How many first team players will play is a mystery. But even they will probably come off early in the 2nd half. Tahs game is priority.

Doesn't mean it doesn't have the potential to be a good game though. Probably increases the chances of a blow-out.

There will be an opportunity for guys like CTM and Salesi Manu to get some game time and we have been wanting them to get a run in the main team for some time. Which game they end up playing is to yet to be seen.

Guess Foley is still up to his Super rugby tricks, naming a side 24 hours out from the match.

I wonder if there's a sense in ruling a player like CTM out for the entire Superrugby season without providing any explanation to us supporters, and then letting him win his first cap against the Lions.

Agree, and it's very annoying.
A cery clever trick, indeed, given our position in the ladder. :D

Go back in history and ask guys who never represented their country which was the biggest game of their life and I am pretty sure the majority will tell you the day they got that once in a lifetime opportunity to face the Lions.

If this is Foley's ego getting in the way he truly has a very small one, putting state rivalry ahead of something that has such significance in the game.

There is just no way to justify not making a full go of the Lions game, whatever your personal gripes with NSW.

I started this thread being excited about the Force team we have watched for the last few weeks take on a Lions team who won't be on top of their game yet.

If this b team thing is indeed true I feel sorry for those who have forked out the cash.

Unless of course Foley is leading us all around by the nose.

Ever hear of the Tom Richards Trophy? The Test are for "Points" the first to 2 wins

You possess marvellous understatement for a Jaap. Especially a ginger :)

A fucking tragedy is what it is. Let me be clear on this:

FUCK SUPER RUGBY

This is a once-a-career stuff - to go out there and write your club into fucking HISTORY.

To bash six shades of shit, and possibly even a seventh, out of an international touring side whose accents aren't even the same.

This is bigger than Ben Hur.

Bigger than positions on a table when you're finals chance is already gone.

Bigger than my own f-bomb count on this forum FFS!!!

Where is your sense of occasion, Axel?!!!

Pfitzy I agree. Think the Force should be throwing everything at this game. OK sure there may be points on the line against the Tahs, but surely pride against a Lions outfit should outway any points on offer in S15, especially when you consider it might lift the Force from 13th to 12th!

Brown?
SNK is a good option. Better then Sias. He has experience up north and is a better attacking 10. Petty is back? Who is brown?

you guys don t get it> the tahs minus their wallabies (and foley/ luca @ 7s i think) represents the best chance foley is gunna get to beat the tahs.. and considering how much the tahs have improved in just a year, his chances arnt going to get any better in the foreseeable future.
a full force team who has played together all year (most for several years) has a real chance of upsetting the lions who are only playing their second game together if they play as a team- i have no doubt they can catch them by surprise despite the big names the lions carry.
but foley doesnt think like that- he wants to kick the tahs while they are down, he doesnt care about the forces chances of creating history

Cory Brown has been with the force since late last year and was in the running for the last EPS spot. i think he went back to Sydney in the last few weeks to play in the Shield. He is a handy winger i think Tp try scored last year?
