Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

Is Schmidt's ultimate game plan particularly complicated? I must admit that I haven't worked out what he is trying to do other than kick it lots, and play the forward pods in close. The full back seems to be running most of the wider attack. Any pro should be able to pull that game plan off.

A bit of Giteau and Mitchell research on the train this morning. Toulon wouldn't pay Git's salary while at WC or TRC. With him being on $1.5m a year, and match payments only at $10k, it meant the players lost a significant amount of money to play Wallabies. One article said $250k for Giteau in...

This is kind of what I was saying about Australian rugby - maybe Australian sport, the Marsh brothers experienced the same thing, and Raygun now We love a pile on. Lolesio probably isn't having a great time of it right now, and Skelton probably didn't love his last few years here either.

I was at the Georgian test and sat near a group of 20 something's who were on the beers and they spent the entire match yelling out to Nic White, telling him how shit he was, and how he should get off the field. Could you imagine South African supporters doing that? (Maybe they did pre-rassie?)

Again, I never said he was treated badly. But if other countries dont have the same issue with a collection of players not wanting to play for the national team that we have (and you'd have to include the likes of Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) and Carter G in that), its probably not the players fault.

I didn't say RA. I said Australian rugby.

I'm not saying that doesn't happen, but it's specifically forbidden under Regulation 9.3 Skelton also just signed a four year deal which will see him through, so there's no issue securing the next contract

Doran has written here, and spoken about it on his podcast last night; apparently Skelton will face financial impacts if he plays for Australia. Anyone know what they could be? On the podcast, it was something along the lines of "financially they are going to be taking a bit of a hit now, or...

A bigger indictment on how Australian rugby has treated some of our players

What's going on with our maul defence? We must be up to double figures across the five tests so far this year. To me this is the biggest issue, and no changes at 10 or 12 will matter unless we can fix it.

Article on rugby.com.au today says AAA, Bell (cut eye) and Slipper all came off for HIAs. Bell passed his but was tactically replaced and then they didn't want to put him back on after he'd cooled down due to risks to his toe

The priority is always to remove players who may have a concussion. WR (World Rugby) don't want any system in place that discourages removal of players who may have one. The Team Doctor follows WR (World Rugby) protocols and works with the independent Match Day doctor to identify players who have Cat 1 symptoms and have...

Two contact injuries and you lose a player. If one of the substitutions is HIA, blood or from foul play, then you don't.

All the scenarios are in here https://www.world.rugby/the-game/laws/guidelines/16/?highlight=uncontested Basically, if an HIA is involved, you don't lose a player

3 rolling maul tries in the second half. How many of those have we conceded this year? It's one area of the game that needs urgent attention, or don't even bother running out. The rest of this evening was just typical Australian rugby players being flummoxed by rain. Even our greatest teams...

Our forwards should collectively buy Noah a small McDonalds coffee tomorrow to say thanks for attracting all the criticism once again, after they spill they ball, can't secure the ball and and can't win the ball for the 40th time in two weeks
